ParticipantHey guys,
there is a link in the profile area called “apply for admin” where you fill out the thing and it posts your application on the thread. I admittedly did this and did now know there were requirements to fill before applying. I think it would be wise that before some one applies for an admin that the rules are posted some where or linked on the applying for admin page. I just know that I applied for it, and didn’t know of the requirements before hand.
Granted it was my fault for not really searching, but I didn’t realize there were requirements for it. If they are linked or posted I must have missed them (epic fail me) so maybe making them stand out or something would be nice. Sorry for the hassle
Thanks for taking a look

Participantthey definitely are posted and you do fail.

haha thus: epic fail
well when I applied I figured, I’ve played alot on the WCU server, and I figured sum 1 should know that I’m a fair player. Citan did sort of vouch for me, but I suppose I didn’t realize all the requirements.

ParticipantI said we should have this last year and Liam said that it was in place. Now I don’t know if that went poof or not, but a page where it lists the requirements and you have to check “Yes” before you apply might be a good idea.
April 18, 2009 at 3:42 am #80293MajorMajorMajor
Participantalso we need to remove the “CoD4 Admin” part outta the admin application
April 18, 2009 at 3:52 am #80298MajorMajorMajor
Participantidea
maybe have the link at the top go directly to the How-To admin application thread and there at the bottom they can continue on their way to the application.

lol
April 18, 2009 at 5:19 pm #80384YahooEarth
ParticipantAs usual, an un-needed remark from Derrick. He means “we” as in the whole admin community since we all have some input in the admin applications, whether it be the majority of the pull in the execs, or just a little push from the regular admins. Dean IS part of the community as an admin, no need to bash him for this.
And yea, I too agree that there should be some sort of check list for the admin requirements, like an “I agree” page, and if they check yes and post and still don’t meet the requirements, make their next requirements harder to attain.

ParticipantI have been saying for a long time that we need a confirmation page that pops up before the admin application. Or we could just put the requirements above the actual application form.

Participanttorankusu has pointed out this has already been discussed.
I’ve read thru most of it and it appears that most agree to some sort of check or display of the requirements BEFORE the admin application is filled out. I think this would sufficiently decrease the amount of apps that don’t meet requirements.
if we have agreement here, who do we talk to, to get something like this to happen?
April 18, 2009 at 7:21 pm #80409AMerrill
ParticipantThe webmaster will take care of this. He is a bit busy right now but will get to this when he can.
Thanks!

Not to derail the thread or anything, but I need to say this.
I think you took what was CLEARLY a joke, and blew it out of proportion. On the other hand, you’ve been stalking and lurking me on these forums lately, most noteably in the ban appeal of a certain admitted (after denying for so long) hacker, so I’m not surprised at your illfated attempt to make me look bad. Who the hell do you think you are? It’s not going to work. Nobody cares what you think.
That being said, there is no we. There is only WCU and its MEMBERS and EXECUTIVES. If you look at the application rules, you’ll see that it revolves around support from CLUB MEMBERS, and not that of the server admins (yes, theres a difference) or anybody else. Whether you dislike a certain person who applies or not, it would have no effect on the CLUB MEMBERS decision, if said person were in tight with them. Simple as that.
Furthermore, I ask you politely to quit stalking me on these forums, you immature little brat. uckFay offway.

Derail over:) Back to the topic at hand…
A TOS page wouldn’t be hard to do. If you need help with it, MasterP or Adam, PM/AIM me.
April 18, 2009 at 9:19 pm #80443torankusu
ParticipantThat’d be a good idea.
And also, I just want to add that Derrick’s right in that members and admins aren’t the same thing.
Here’s a link to the constitution, which is available on the main page.
Quote:
Article II Eligibility for Active MembershipIn order to participate as an active member within the Western Carolina University Gaming Club, one must be a student at Western Carolina University and possess both the means and the will to participate in a majority of Club LAN events, including attending meetings every month, paying varying activity fees, and fulfilling various community and campus service requirements set forth by the Western Carolina University Gaming Club and the Western Carolina University Club Council.
However, although most of the admins aren’t real members of the club, the admin requirements state that admins can give their approval on someone’s application OR an exec can approve it.
Quote:
Admin Eligibility1. Be a current student, staff member, previous executive, or alumni of Western Carolina University.
2. Have a minimum of 50 hours of time in the server.
3. Have at least three recommendations from an existing Admin.
4. Have at least one recommendation from a current or past Executive.
Or
1. Have at least 100 meaningful posts on the forums.
2. Have a minimum of 50 hours of time in the server.
3. Have at least three recommendations from an existing Admin.
4. Have at least one recommendation from a current or past Executive.
HOWEVER, Derrick is technically right in that it’s the execs who are doing the handing out, so when he asked “we” to Dean, he wasn’t really in the wrong cuz we the “regular” admins aren’t responsible for actually giving that person the permissions.

ParticipantTrue. It didn’t seem like it was meant to incite any flaming.

Please post here when things are up and running
April 23, 2009 at 6:39 pm #82053distemper
ParticipantActually, I have a question…
Quote:
3. Have at least three recommendations from an existing Admin.Do you mean have at least 3 recommendations from 3 separate existing admin?
Because according to the original statement, I could bribe LuckySeven with a Ford F-150 Extended Cab(complete with stars and bars bumper sticker), and he could just “recommend me” three times.
Sorry LuckySeven, couldn’t help myself.
April 23, 2009 at 11:37 pm #82123torankusu
ParticipantAlthough improperly phrased, common sense would lead you (or should!) to believe that three recommendations, each from a different admin. ;P
Nice catch.
