ParticipantI have no idea what went wrong, but after the LAN party took place, i have a consistent 200-300 ping. I thought it might be someone downloading in my house, but my ping on all other servers is normal. I checked all my rates, all seemed fine. Maybe something happened when the transition from public to lan and then back to public occured. If anyone else has this problem, speak now or forever hold your peace.

Adam FaulknerParticipantGamecreate is no different than what we had. The problem with him and is ping has nothing to do with anything that we did to the server. Infact we didnt use the pub at the lan, we just used a backup. There actaully were no changed to the pub at all.

ParticipantIm having the same problem it seems, but i set off sv_lan and it helped.
April 27, 2006 at 5:37 pm #10711
Adam FaulknerParticipantI dont understand what you mean by setting sv_lan off? I have noticed alot of people having the same issues, but havnt had the chance to speak with anyone at the IT department about it. Its really hard for me to grasp what i should ask. Maybe if you did some pings with the command prompts and showed me whats going on and maybe an idea on how to fix it i can help more.

April 29, 2006 at 3:17 pm #10720
Adam FaulknerParticipantI still think there is an issue however i made some very large changes last night and i cant wait to see if anything made a change.

Participantwell i have been trying to figure out what could be causeing such high pings to the server . And i even have pings that i did to the server and here is the info
Pinging 152.30.126.210 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 152.30.126.210: bytes=32 time=58ms TTL=114
Reply from 152.30.126.210: bytes=32 time=55ms TTL=114
Reply from 152.30.126.210: bytes=32 time=55ms TTL=114
Reply from 152.30.126.210: bytes=32 time=55ms TTL=114
Ping statistics for 152.30.126.210:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss)
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 55ms, Maximum = 58ms, Average = 55ms As you can see it doesnt ping high to me but when i connect to the server it rockets up . this leeds me to beleave that there is a setting off somewhere i donnt think its the school but the box .We need to find out what os the box is running and update it as needed and double check to make sure that there isnt a firewall or anyother program running on the box that could do this

ParticipantI’ve been having killer pings for about a week now, but it coincides with both the LAN, AND with me moving off campus back home. It could be one, the other, or both…

May 3, 2006 at 8:05 pm #10766j0rm4n
Participant1) go into your sister room and observe her DLing Aeon Flux with Limemire, and sharing a bajillion other files to potential FBI trackers while simultaneously chatting to another Kajillion+1 ‘buddies’ using AOL’s 5hittty new Trinton or w/e(<<
2) tell her shes an idiot and you need your CS fix for the day.
3) rip her cat5 cable into a gajillion little tiny fiber optic threads.
4) Log onto wcugaming server.
5)Problem solved
