All I can say is… holy crap. Consoles at the LAN this past weekend were absolutely phenomenal. Overall turn out was great among ALL consoles, and for that I am truly thrilled. Every tournament was incredibly popular (the smallest tourneys were Mario Kart 64 and Halo 3 both with 16 players) so it’s obvious that something must have been going right.
I really want to say thanks to my buddy Cacophony for helping out and being an awesome VP. He took over CoD4 and Halo 3 while I managed the other three Nintendo tournaments. Running on the schedule that we had for console games would have been impossible without him. I am so glad that we were able to pull this off as first time executives with very few casualties.
Many thanks to you, Caco. Also I want to thank all of the other guys who were there to help make the workload more bearable. This includes a lot of people, especially ChaosWolf, Thor, Shingi, and OhMalley. The CoD4 tournament was crazy enough and I know it wouldn’t have gotten off the ground without help from you guys.
I hope everyone feels the same way that I do and acknowledges that this LAN was nothing less than a success. Outstanding console attendance and interest was key in making this all happen. Hopefully more word will get out about how awesome this part of the club is growing up to be. So once again, thank you to EVERYONE involved, because the gamers make the games what they’re supposed to be: a good ol’ time.
Invisible friend: Hey, nice job getting that N64 to the LAN, Ephraim!
Ephraim: Yeah, I spent ten bucks to get a new controller.
Invisible friend: Cool!
Ephraim: . . .
Invisible friend: Wanna make out?
Ephraim: No.
Invisible friend: Me neither.
anyone that has been to any of teh past LAN events can see that this one was hands down the best. Even with you guys blowing shat up, it still turned out the best. I’m glad to see the club progress this much. You all are doing a great job. Keep up the hard work!! Its panning out nicely.
Your very welcome. I was glad to be of help. But the guys who need the most thanks for CoD4 are the gentlemen who brought their TV and like a case of CoD4 games. I swear I was like “doods…we need another CoD4” “here ya go” “got another?” “here ya go” “anymore?” “here ya go” I think they came up with 3 or 4 copies of the game. That is the ONLY reason that tourny had a chance. Good Job Shae and Cacophony. You guys did a great job running things together.
The lans are like a fine wine, they just keep getting better with time.
Keep up the great work everyone, and great job to Shae and Cacophony for running the consoles their first time as exec’s you did a spectacular job.
