Spectatori like red’s rotation because it is just that, a rotation.
many times, the server is always full regardless if it’s a “bad map” or not.
it would be nice to introduce people to play new maps. with a voting system, people tend to always vote for the same maps that they like. let’s have them step outside of their comfort zone and try new maps that they may or may not have liked before. back in the day (years ago) i hated maps like prodigy, but after playing it for a while you get to know it and you like something about it. a map rotation can do the same for someone else. and if they’re the type to whine about it and leave, then so be it. who cares? server is still going to have people on it.
i was an admin at TGZ for a couple of years and that server was always packed. we never changed maps and always kept rotations. worked like a charm. people want to whine, deal with it, because there are others who are willing to try something new and play.
the best thing to do is let those maps go, see how they pan out, and maybe decrease/increase the time depending on how much of it one can take. for instance, i don’t mind the big iceworld map nor did i mind mindmaze. it was new and fresh to the rotation. the only problem was the fact that it got laggy sometimes. maybe decreasing the time on that would’ve kept it fresh so that people didn’t get sick of it.
and with your voting system, i think that could possibly be flawed as well, depending on the logic you’re going to use to decide which maps get nominated. either way, it’s just another plugin. less crap = better.
just my two cents.
