You should be good on all softmods. Before installing ANY software or hardware mods, install bootmii. If you have the firmware version of bootmii you can very easily recover from bricks.

That will get you started. You’ll have to use Smash Stack or Indian Pwns on 4.3U.

Also, poke around that wiki. Lots of good reading.
