Spectatorso anyone else *edited*ed off at NPR, it seems all they are talking about is getting you to donate. *edited*, srly. i havent had any news in *edited*ing 3 days. wtf is up with that? i mean they say they are commercial free but all they do is ask for support just as much if not more than a commercial would take. ITS THE SAME *edited*ING THING. i’d rather hear a *edited* commercial than begging beggars. *edited* i need a mp3 player *edited*

SpectatorIt’s because NPR went heavily liberal-leaning on their news reporting, lost the type of listeners who listen to that sort of thing, and thus has no funding or donations. It’s the same reason why the vast majority of liberal-leaning talk stations are either dead or dying.

SpectatorOn another note, does anyone else find it odd just how little reporting there was on the Tennessee flooding? I mean the Opry House was flooded, the Opryland Hotel had 10+ feet of water in it, and I-40 was closed for 50 miles and there’s barely any mention. I think the I-40 rockslide got more coverage…
All Obama does is call the governor, days after the flooding starts. Where’s the outcry that Bush got about Katrina?
Not trying to sound racist but if the primarily-black hometown of Blues gets flooded it’s a national emergency worthy of days of nonstop coverage but if the primarily-white hometown of County gets flooded it’s business as usual? What’s up with that? I don’t think Fox even sent Geraldo down there…

Spectatorwhoa whoa whoa…
if you want to talk politics lets move this discussion to the appropriate boards. This is tainting the great thread major and nickname worked so hard to create.
But on the topic of NPR, I don’t think i’ve ever tuned in even when they had a more middle of the road stance (if that’s what you want to call it). Irregardless, i think it has little or nothing to do with their stances, and more to do with the economy, people are on a tight budget, and just can’t afford to donate like they did before.
And the flooding…i just got back from Memphis, and FEMA had hundreds and hundreds of 18 wheelers lined up to get supplies to take to Nashville. Just because it doesn’t make the news, doesn’t mean *edited* isn’t getting done. Probably the opposite, *edited* is getting taken care of, therefore, nothing bad to report. But it was reported, many times. I guess Texas gets better news than you all. ha

True enough about NPR but one of the reasons conservative talk radio does so well is because its listeners actually use the goods and services of its advertisers, hence the advertising revenue gradually increases. If NPR offered a service worthy of donating to or being sponsored people and organizations would do so. Economy or not, it’s still that simple IMO.
Yeah, 2 weeks after Katrina they had just as many FEMA trucks there too. FEMA takes 3-5 days to respond, it’s just how they operate. I’m ok with that. Geographically speaking you can’t expect that amount of resources to arrive any faster. Tennessee wasn’t nearly as costly in terms of life because when forecasters said “GTFO that floodplain” the people actually left. As opposed to “Dude WTF you live in a bowl GTFO NAO!” and the people not leaving. That and they didn’t shove the evacuees into a giant stadium. Or let a large fleet of busses get flooded without so much as considering them as an evacuation option.
So WTF is up with Starcraft 2 costing $60? I mean it’s got a huge SP campaign but it sucks to see that this is becoming a new trend. Once EA starts doing *edited*, even if it’s wrong, everyone else follows.

Spectatorlol i try not to say much irl. no sense in getting all fancy, especially when it increases your chances to look like a moron.
message boards are a different story, i’ll rant all day, and probably half the time come across as an idiot, but hey it’s the internet where porn and morons rule.

LOL sorry I would have cept the mouse is so *edited*ty it would have been an insult to you
Our order of the bars changes cause we realized the last 2 had cover charges after 8, so like geniuses we went to TOTS and billys first.
Only made it to bar 7. Was attempting to take the lead at -5 (leader was -6) so I got an IPA which we counted as -2. Drank it, then blacked out. Next thing I remember I was in Cabo Fish Taco (a family restaurant) at like 8:45 vomiting all over the table and the waitress yelling “GET HIM THE *edited* OUT”. All i could say was ” I NEED A BAG” which i promptly filled and dumped onto an SUV outside.
Good night over all

SpectatorSo after meeting with everyone who went out with us last night, more of the story at Cabo. Apparently I ordered food, some sort of wrap thing potato salad. When they didnt have any potato salad, they offered artichoke dip which I accepted but apparently me being my loud drank self said “OH THANK YOU SO MUCH THAT WOULD BE WONDERFUL” in a very very sarcastic tone inevitably leading to her anger in wanting me out of there. Sad thing is I know drunk me, and I was probably trying to be sincere. She was already not happy that 6 highly intoxicated guys came in and were in an uproar the entire night so that probably iced the cake.
Although it’s hard to predict that far into the future, I probably won’t be drinking until football season. Most of my friends are graduating and going back to DC so I’m left with one or two people this summer who I would never drink with. I also RARELY get that drunk. Last time I drank that heavily was in 2006.
