Master p i asked bitey before i even thought bout doing this. I asked him if i could post our website link so people could check it out. I dont think it will get any worse than what it is now. Unless u make it out to be a big deal. I have respect for wcu and there rules the whole reason why i asked bitey before i done it. Instead of just posting it and wondering what would happen.LuckySeven said:
I understand that adam the whole reason why i asked bitey before hand that i could or couldnt do it.Yet he didn’t tell anyone and has yet to comment about it. To be perfectly honest, the majority of communities would have deleted this thread without a second thought. I don’t really consider myself as making a big deal of this as all I said was to go easy on it. I flat out removed someone else’s so you are already getting more consideration than others. Don’t slap the hand that didn’t delete.
If the advertising is mutual then by all means link away but if I sense leaching I’m putting a stop to it. That’s more than fair.

SpectatorSorry for not posting, I have been busy, I did give him my ok to post his link, it is not a mutual agreement or anything just him posting a link to his clan’s website, if things are not going our way then we can remove it. I don’t really see the issue, tF advertises in their signatures for their website and it makes no difference to me that they do, why is this any different, you see a link in a persons signature more often than you see a link in one post in one thread.

He hits the nail square on the head.
Community leaching is much more damaging than you think Bitey and it’s one of the hardest to recover from once it’s done damage. If it comes to *edited*ing off a few clans for the sake of keeping the server whole I don’t see the issue either. The server is about people. Clans are nice and are actually quite healthy for a server but they also have their own interests to balance and I have seen many a clan screw a server over in favor of keeping their clan alive. If it came to watching your family break up or the gaming club break up, which would you choose?
I’m not suggesting rQ or anyone else is doing this, just saying it’s a door I don’t want opened.

SpectatorI read Adam’s post and have not taken the subject of community leaching lightly, I realize that it could be quite damaging, perhaps not to our club in its current standing because a lot of clan members are very loyal to the club, though I do see how later on it could cause issues. Like I said if we see a drop in community because of this then we should quite obviously take this link down, no offense lucky, but this is something that I should have discussed with you before.

Spectatormy ideas
as a member of rQ and an admin i don’t care either way…
however… clans should apply for such treatment just like admins wanting to join the community
conditions of getting a link:
1. have a certain number of members that frequent the server
2. have members active in forums as well
3. be approved by admin vote or an executive wcu gaming club member
other requirements:
1. Sites that WCU links to should be clean of porn / shock imagery etc
2. Sites should link back to WCU on their main page
If the team has a site and is willing to go through all this then I don’t see why not
also.. lucky’s site in a box is decent

SpectatorI like Lemm’s ideas with this… If we were to go that route.

SpectatorThats cool with me bitey and i agree with all u said. Also if i knew it was going to be this big of a deal i wouldnt have bothered with in in the first place. I dont use this server to keep my clan going its just the server we play on cause there is some cool people that play here. We go there to have fun not to take it serious. Sorry for all the problems this caused lol. Didnt think it would be nothing like this or like i said i wouldnt have done it in the first place.

SpectatorI’ll put my 2 cents in here.
We don’t need more people in rQ, we actually need to cut a few! but that’s neither here nor there on this issue.
I could understand if a clan took a regular and he stopped playing on that server, but we mostly frequent Wcu more than anywhere else. We have a few people in the top10, if that doesn’t speak for rQ after they have been recruited from here. Then i don’t know what to tell you.
I can understand your fear of letting him post the site also but i feel that he was trying to get our site more active since none of us rQ’ers ever actually use the thing and nate has some weird feelings about “idling, forum’ing, and our tags”…ask anyone, he flips.
again, So-CaL’s 2 cents

The point I was trying to make was that this isn’t something I want started. I am not referring or implying in any way that the clans we have now are a problem, because you aren’t. It’s just that if another clan swarms the server then asks for the same advertising rights with the sole intention of stealing players, I will have little or no control over it until it’s too late.
