SpectatorHello All.
Just wanted to let the community know what updates and changes are being made to the server and the general community.
We have 2 new admins to 1.6 that I consider very active members and will be great for the server. Dankst@ and BunnyTaliBAN.
Starting tomorrow, we will up the slots on the 1.6 server back to 29. Ive been watching the stats for the past 2 weeks and we have been packed or near packed, so i think the change is needed.
Also working on a fun-night rotation to happen on Friday nights, any inputs for that would be great as well.
I also want to thank all the 1.6 admins who are active in the server and have helped me get the population back up and have made it a very popular server again. I really appreciate all the help and input from everyone.

SpectatorOoh fun night!
Some suggestions: awp_map, fy_stoneworld, he_dodgeball, ka_legoland, fy_iceworld2k, cs_rio, awp_snowsk337, scoutzknivez, fun_allinone, as_tundra, awp_dust
Good idea on upping the slots! Wouldn’t 28 slots be a better number though? 14v14 instead of 15v14?

Spectatorlast slot could be reserved… (no dustworld?? </3) =P

SpectatorWell since I was told that it was a cpu problem, having to keep track of the location and inputs of 4 more players and process everything that those players do from taking a step to holding the walk key, I think adding player slots is a bad idea. I mean look at the logs and that’s probably 1/3 of what the cpu actually has to process.

SpectatorCS1.6 doesn’t use hardly any resources as it is compared to the source based servers. Another 3% won’t make a difference.

SpectatorIt averages in the low to mid 20s now. When we cap out on mapchanges it won’t matter whether CS1.6 has 12 slots or 32, it’s going to get the same amount of lag. We just don’t have enough CPU power during CPU spike events.

again…we are moving to 29 slots, possibly the full 32 if the server maintains the current population

Spectatorjust keep in mind another source based server is about to pull a hellaton of CPU in about 2 weeks when it become officially open

SpectatorThe 1.6 server has been lagging hard and it’s unfortunate b/c the server is starting to get really packed again. Theoretically, if the wcu source gungame server shut down would it help the 1.6 server lag less? I’m not advocating for the source gungame server to be shut down. I’m just wondering how this stuff works.

I have *edited* internet at school and with *edited* internet at your school its almost making it impossible. Yes there are definitely some days that its not a problem.

SpectatorOn the gametracker website, the WCU 1.6 server jumped up from the 59th percentile to the 89th percentile in the past 3 weeks. If it is possible to reduce the lag in the 1.6 server using current resources, shouldn’t that solution be pursued? It’s very discouraging to see people leave the server when the server is full and it starts to lag :sad01_anim:

April 1, 2009 at 11:54 pm #77234d2.sticky-icky
SpectatorYes Adam37 I understand the higher the better. That’s why I referenced it. I was saying since the server is getting more popular, we should try to fix the lag.
