I agree, but Marilyn Monroe was pretty much the same thing. Her claim to famous was looking pretty and getting down with the Kennedy brothers.
Generally, I think the modern world gleefully celebrates failure. For example: Snakes on a Plane was number one at the boxoffice its opening weekend.
