It’s like Yo Momma jokes. It’s funny, until the kid seriously says “My mom is dead you *edited*”, then its just awkward and you feel bad. Major said it a few posts back, how can people personalize so much with a stranger. Stranger happens to be MJ, and when one listens to his music for years, you do get kind of personal with the name. I was walking around last night (last few days in Barcelona), and in the biggest most important square in Barcelona, Plaza Catalunya, there was a memorial set up for MJ. This square is easily 100 square meters in area, and the area the memorial covered was probably 2/3rds of that. Endless sea of candles, flowers, pictures, letters, you name it. All I have to say, is sure crack your jokes, but I bet you wouldn’t crack them there. ;)

It’s a very emotional time and very big deal for many people. I think what Raven was trying to say, along with respecting the dead, respect people’s feelings at a time of mourning. He could have maybe been less direct, but then again, how would you respond to people calling someone you connect with who just died, names and cracking jokes? It’s very offensive tbh. Here, how about you think of your favorite musician, or someone who has inspired you at all. Now imagine he/she died, how would you respond to humorless jokes and allegations told the same day of that persons death? If you can’t imagine that anger, well then, you my friend don’t have a soul =/

At the same time though, these are just forums on an imaginary thing we have collectively created called the internet, dominated by porn, games, and violence. So things like respect, souls, personalization, things that actually matter to people; don’t really belong.
