There’s always one or two REALLY good people and it’s a major turn off to everyone else.

Isn’t that true for virtually every game that’s played? The same 3 or 4 respective people win the same tournament each LAN. Especially with Chupathingy and Call of Duty 4, but you’re playing that again. Furthermore, that’s the same reason why you kept UT2K4 off the books for so long, but you’re allowing it back. Trying another RTS would not hurt.

There aren’t any good fighter or puzzle games for PC. Unlike the consoles, they don’t release a zillion games per year for PC, we get maybe 3 good games per year and out of those maybe 1 is decent enough for tournament play, maybe. Then everyone who plays it has to have their own copy, instead of getting 4 players for a single $50 purchase.

There are other alternatives than the big games released by major developers that have opportunities. 1) Play older games. They’re still fun and bring back good memories. Besides, I thought you guys were about fun. 2) Play some of the free stuff that’s out there. Gunbound is a good game and fun game. Again, I thought we were aiming for fun, not competition here. At least that’s what nearly every naysayer I’ve had come to me about pushing for more competitive based rules and settings has been telling me. 3) Again, trying 1 new game or mod will mix things up.

Furthermore, the consoles may be able to have cost distributed out better but at the same time we are limited by equipment just as you guys are. Call of Duty 4 was one of the games held back because you can only have 1 person per box playing over a System Link. And most other games, you can’t fit over 2 players per TV.

Because consoles are 1/4 the price and the university pushes freshmen parents hard to get university backed PCs that can’t play games. Also, remember we were here before you were and were hovering around a peak about the time consoles started so comparisons of growth speed isn’t really that fair.

But everyone is required to have a PC. (Plus I think 1/4 the price is a bit exaggerated. Maybe 1/2. I built a good solid PC for under $600. My 360 cost more than half that.) If you try playing some games that are free to play or fairly cheap then the computer requirements are not an issue. Not everyone has a console or even access to one. Also, there should be no reason why consoles all of a sudden out number PC people. You guys were going strong and quickly expanding when the consoles were barely holding their first tournaments. Honestly, I see a lack of effort for recruiting more of an on-campus presence. There is virtually NO on-campus PC community as far as I’m concerned. Everyone goes off and does their little thing and plays with their one or two close friends. Maybe if you take steps to re-establish a firm PC community here, things would change.
