Actually, Guitar Hero hasn’t been in every LAN since we started it. Also, Guitar Hero is the only console tournament to ever get sponsored. And my point isn’t that we seemingly vote different games for each LAN, is that we constantly try to bring up new games EVERY meeting to try out. Your last “new” game to get introduced to the list was Call of Duty 4. PC plays mostly FPS’s. I don’t understand why there can’t be an RTS, some sort of fighter, a strategy game, a puzzle game, or whatever new for the PC list. All I’ve seen for the PC list are the same games just recycled over and over. Day of Defeat, UT2K4, Quake 3, Call of Duty 4, CSS, CS 1.6, and TF2. There was ONE Starcraft tournament and that was because a CONSOLE person pushed for it and ran it.

We have tried RTS ever since I’ve been in the club and it never works. There’s always one or two REALLY good people and it’s a major turn off to everyone else. For example, the Starcraft you refer to was won by the guy who ran it and when it was played at the following LAN it had like 4 people play. We can’t be expected to stick with tournaments that fail.

There aren’t any good fighter or puzzle games for PC. Unlike the consoles, they don’t release a zillion games per year for PC, we get maybe 3 good games per year and out of those maybe 1 is decent enough for tournament play, maybe. Then everyone who plays it has to have their own copy, instead of getting 4 players for a single $50 purchase.

Btw, if you know of any *good* fighting games for PC feel free to let us know. I can’t think of a single one since they quit making Mortal Combats for the PC.

There’s an easy explanation why the console community has grown so much faster than the PC side.

Because consoles are 1/4 the price and the university pushes freshmen parents hard to get university backed PCs that can’t play games. Also, remember we were here before you were and were hovering around a peak about the time consoles started so comparisons of growth speed isn’t really that fair.
