SpectatorThe US has a unique solution to this sort of problem, one we discovered a century ago called “Torpedoes”. These “Torpedoes” have the ability to move, all by themselves, towards a target and can typically destroy it.
The one exception is large, heavily armored ships which may take an “assload” of firepower to sink. For all intents and purposes we can assume with a fair degree of certainty that said Columbian navy vessels do not possess the armor to survive more than a single spitwad hit from an American naval vessel, up to and including the Rowboat Class.

If you didn’t get it from my post, I think we should have sent one of our own submarines after it and sunk it.

Chertoff, who is on a three-day trip to meet with Mexican security officials, said drug cartels are increasingly relying on the subs to smuggle cocaine to the United States.U.S. officials say traffickers use the vessels to carry about 32 percent of the cocaine moved by water from South America to the U.S.
You realize it can’t dock in the US without entering US waters, right?

Spectatorwell maybe it was a first trip out for that boat. and it was headed for mexico, and no matter where it was before unless they identified it and KNEW then they can’t do anything. especially without mexican permission.
plain and simple. MEXICO =!= US

i replied we cant go in mexican waters without permission and he said it has to go through US waters to dock in the US, but the article says it was going from one mexican port/shore to another mexican port/shore.
so i think you are illiterate major… show me where it says in the article that this sub was going to US waters or why US should have gotten the submarine themselves. think before you speak

Spectatoron second thought… god help ANYONE who has to be within a mile of you at any moment.
and lol at your attempts at being intelligent
July 23, 2008 at 2:45 am #52138YahooEarth
SpectatorJust curious, but does the US or Mexico actually “own” the waters?? Or is it international waters?? And either way, trafficking(sp?) drugs is illegal in both the US and Mexico, so maybe we were just helping the good ol’ Mexicans out a lil bit…And we all know that a cut of that would eventually get to the US since it is most likely 1000% more profitable there than in Mexico…

Spectatorcouldn’t these guys just buy a sub from the russians? seriously…it’s not like the drug kingpins are short on cash, or drugs which i’ve heard could double as cash, a nuclear submarine and a reasonably competent crew, possibly also acquire via russia, would make drug running so easy.

We can track heat signatures of nuclear subs with satallites when they are docked so using them would raise a lot of eyebrows. The US claims dominance over waters within a certain radius of US territory. It used to be like 3 miles but after 9/11 it got increased by quite a bit. Idk what it is now, 20 miles I believe.
Btw Urban, Colombia isn’t a Mexican city/port/shore/territory.
