Go ahead and call, Stephen very rarely replies to email from students he doesn’t know. I’m telling you though, the club owns a 48 port netgear switch that is exactly what you guys need.

Unless there’s a power hookup, there’s nothing you really can do about power. Just make sure that you balance the load really well and pray the room has multiple circuits. Make sure that there is an RA on duty in the lobby so that when a circuit trips they can help you reset it. Having done this for years I can tell you console players are the worst at power setup and are the only group to trip circuits at an actual LAN so someone will have to babysit the entire setup period to make sure people don’t daisychain surge protectors. Rule of thumb is 1 Surge protector for each wall outlet, anything over that and you risk a blackout. For calculation purposes, below is a list of the power consumption of devices and the max allowed per breaker.

TVs

Average plasma: 300 watts

Average LCD (standard): 110 watts

Average LCD (LED): 100 watts

Consoles

PlayStation 3: 200 watts

PlayStation 3 Slim: 100 watts

Xbox 360 (all modems): 200 watts

Nintendo Wii: 20 watts (that’s not a typo)

Theoretical max on a 15 amp breaker: 1800 watts

Absolute max on a 15 amp breaker: 2100-2400 watts (depending on bulding wire quality)
