Starcraft == Warcraft3. They are the same and people who hate one also hate the other. SC will fail the same way. If you want an RTS get something new and worth a *edited*, like Supreme Commander 2.

3 LANs will not work well, you need to focus on getting attendance up before you start expanding. If you expand with a weak foundation you risk turning the club into what the NCSU gaming club is, lots of smaller events but nothing big.

Is anyone else concerned about there being 5 console fighter games?

Also, what happened to the “if you don’t own, have never played, and don’t know where to get the game don’t vote for it” rule? We had what, 1 copy of Guilty Gear at the last LAN? Since it’s not even sold on PC in this country I can’t imagine that those 15 people all own it…

Multiple rooms will work but as anyone that’s been to an ASU event can tell you it’s a serious pain for the players. If at all possible, this should be avoided. Also, cross-room networking between consoles will not be possible.

Kazka, I know you’re trying to help, but doing business with LMP is a mistake. Every exec who’s dealt with them in the past has told you this and you seem to just not care. The room may be free but food/drinks won’t be. You may think it ok to not make a dime but the club isn’t in a position right now to start doing charity work in conjunction with other organizations, especially others that are directly propped up and supported by the university. LMP doesn’t care about us or about making money because they have a bottomless supply of taxpayer dollars to draw upon, we do not. They approached us because we are the largest student organization on campus and they want to use our success to benefit themselves. If you can’t see the real intentions behind this you need to let the VPs do the negotiating. If they’re going to use us in this fashion then WE dictate the terms, not them. Working together would help both groups but one should not have to sacrifice all gain while the other sacrifices nothing to gain all. It’s not financially sustainable, or worth it. Also remember that no prizes will hurt attendance. It shouldn’t but it will.

Also word of warning, just because you schedule the events now doesn’t mean you won’t get bumped later. I would wait until early April, after all the official university events are scheduled. Please discuss all dates with the exec council before proposing and having them voted on.
