SpectatorSo whenever i try to join, i get “Your ping is to high” and then when i finally do get in, after the map changes i get, YOUR PING IS TO HIGH during the map change.
Anyone else having problems?

SpectatorThe world is having this problem on the server lately, except me…I have not been kicked yet, although last night there were SEVERAL complaints and several peeps left because of it…

SpectatorI don’t think it would be a bad idea to raise the ping kicker up to 200.
May 2, 2008 at 9:27 pm #45264YahooEarth
Spectatoror 2000…take your pick…200 might be the better choice…

SpectatorYeah, people are getting kicked or not able to come in the server when their ping is like 60 ?

SpectatorI have had the same problem. It only kicks me once though. My second attempt is ok.

Spectatorspoke too soon, couldnt get in for a while.
May 3, 2008 at 12:03 am #45319Liam
SpectatorI’ll take a look at it.
May 3, 2008 at 12:41 am #45327Liam
SpectatorI made some changes to the ping kicker. Let me know how it does.

Spectatoryeah i dont know if raising the threshold will help, considering ive been kicked with a ping in the 20s or 30s sometimes. ill see if teh problem continuez but its a very recent occurence i must say
May 3, 2008 at 10:46 am #45341Liam
SpectatorBTW. The new ping kicker takes your rates into affect.
Make sure they are right!
rate 30000
cl_cmdrate 100
cl_updaterate 100
cl_interp 0.01
I wouldn’t suggest going under a 75 cmdrate tbh.
May 3, 2008 at 12:30 pm #45357Kuros
SpectatorI don’t know if I would bother with controlling rates from the admin mod. They are already being forced by the server. You could raise them up from where they are on the server since you changed the ping limit to 150.

Hence my comment to check your rates.

SpectatorIt’s still kicking people.. and their pings are like 40’s.. Jbomb in particular
but others too.. my update
May 4, 2008 at 9:02 am #45412Rocket Rob
SpectatorStill having the problem. I get in, usually, the second attempt.

Spectatori think the problem is more that there’s some calculation that’s factoring in your downtime between maps. not necessarily with the kicker, but maybe even with the game itself… pings normally jump right after a switch but settle down after about 20 seconds or so. maybe if we toss in a 30 second grace period on map changes that would keep some of these kicks. i know i end up pinging 20+ after most map changes, compared to my usual 1-5
May 4, 2008 at 1:05 pm #45419Liam
SpectatorWill look and see about making it start after warmup + 30 seconds.

SpectatorMost autokick games have this problem and it’s directly related to how long your computer “hangs” while loading the map. BF2 had this problem so bad that most admin plugins default to a 1-2 minute grace period. The problem is that slower computers can’t maintain their connection to server and load the map at the same time, thus the less intensive is dropped for the more intensive.
The reason you don’t get kicked on your 2nd attempt to join is because your computer already has most of the map files in memory and it takes less work to get it reloaded.

SpectatorI was only getting kicked once when trying to connect. However, I was playing today, and I got kicked 10 times in 30 minutes. Multiple times when loading the map, multiple times mid-game and when changing maps. It made me sad. My ping was around 40-50 the whole time.
May 4, 2008 at 3:28 pm #45428MasterP
SpectatorWas it kicked for high ping or for playing your music?

SpectatorI am generally slow to withdraw the hand of interweb friendship. However, we are no longer internet friends, masterp.
May 4, 2008 at 5:43 pm #45434Liam
SpectatorI added a 75 second grace period. Lemme know how it works out.

May 4, 2008 at 6:06 pm #45436Rocket Rob
SpectatorNow i just got kicked!
May 4, 2008 at 7:38 pm #45438Hannah Montana
SpectatorYeah.. if it has anything to do with it.. People would get kicked like mid game 5 – 10 – 15 minutes after map has changed so it wasn’t just when maps were changing
May 4, 2008 at 7:54 pm #45440Liam
SpectatorWell, I fixed it.
There was two ping kickers loaded. My original one and the new one. -.-
Seems to be working perfectly now.
