Helping a friend install water cooling and his case doesnt have the pre made holes so my question is this. The kit comes with rubber protectors got the holes. We just dont have to room to put said protectors in. Is it ok to just send the plastic pipe through the holes we made? I read somewhere that over time it eats away and causes leaks but can anyone confirm or deny this.

Why would his case need premade holes? Better yet, why would you need to even pipe it outside his case?

You, sir, are doing it wrong.

For half the price (or less) of one of those systems that mounts outside the case you can get an internally mounted pump/reservoir and swap a pair of 90/120mm casefans for coolant heatsinks. They’re cheaper, easier to install, easier to manage, easier to transport the computer with it installed, and lightyears quieter. Not to mention internal-only systems are less likely to leak and when they do leak the coolant simply pools in the bottom of the case or drains through holes you drilled instead of leaking in through the top and soaking every part you’ve got in the computer.

He has had the cooling system for like 3 years. Its not even the right socket but me being a a super smart person has found a way to make it work. It has to be outside because the radiator needs to sit outside. The system was designed for a full tower and he has a mid tower so things are a little tight. The radiator and the place for the holes is in the back. So the radiator takes the spot of the fan under the psu like it screws into the same holes and sit outside.

Citan trying to install water cooling is just asking for a disaster. Didn’t we tell you 100 times to just stop and let someone that knows what they are doing take over? If the cooling system was MADE for a different case maybe you should use the correct *edited*ing parts.
