SpectatorThe movie was bad at all. There were a few holes in the story. Obviously.
July 15, 2009 at 1:45 pm #88584Ephraim
SpectatorIt was an awful movie with good special effects, just like everything else Michael Bay has ever been associated with.

You guys have to realize that you are going to see an ACTION movie about ROBOTS…you can’t be expecting acting gold, or amazing plots…I beg to differ. Without a decent plot the movie becomes mediocre and all you’re really paying for is to watch one side fight another. You could get about the same amount of enjoyment by leaving out 90% of the acting.
Remember the first one wasn’t terribly good either so maybe it’s a trend with this series and/or the actors carried over from the first one.
I think it’s funny how Hollywood blames pirates for profit losses when the real problem is that the public is tired of watching the same crap over and over again simply repackaged and tuned to a different theme. How many *good* sci-fi movies have there been lately that were completely original? They’ve lost the ability to come up with inventive stuff so they take a previous book/movie/theme, toss a bunch of money into CG production, hype it up, and ship it out.
I haven’t been to a movie in years. Their $200 million in CG production doens’t make the $6 ticket price any more worth it.

i want to go to your theaters

SpectatorAt the cinema in Wayensville, tickets cost $5 for adults. The trade-off is terrible service and movies that stay available for about a week.

SpectatorHere’s what I think about Transformers in general:
Growing up, I never really watched the show much; it just didn’t interest me. Years later I dismissed it as an attempt to advertise achion-figures to little kids. When the first live-action Transformers film came out, I didn’t see it, because it combined a franchise for which I felt no nostalgia with a director whom I actively avoid. Still, I kept hearing people say it was awesome and also started to get a little bit curious about the animated 80’s film. When this new live-action film came out, I decided to give the whole franchise a second chance. Besides, I was bored and wanted to see a movie. So, I had the unique expierience of watching the 80’s film on dvd and Revenge of the Fallen within hours of eachother.
After seeing the 80’s film, I thought about what I had seen for a while. The visuals were creative and good-looking, but there was absolutely no compelling story or characters and it was obvious that the only reason there was a film was to get children to buy more toys and keep watching the show. I realised that I was correct before: Transformers is just not a good franchise. True, it is profitable and has an enormous fanbase, but that doesn’t make it good.
Still, I went to see Revenge of the Fallen. Everything I felt about the franchise was validated ten-fold. Within the first half-hour, I saw:
-A stupid dog-humping joke.
-The most annoying mother-character in the history of cinema.
-Two characters so stereotypical they were practically in blackface.
-A young woman in a skimpy outfit, strattling a motorcycle and thrusting her butt towards the camera.
-KABOOM!!
There were plotholes so big, you couldn’t get away with them on Gilligan’s Island. Everything about this film is excessive. It actually tops 300 in terms of sheer gratuity. It merges a franchise made entirely of commercialism with a director who has no idea how to tell a story beyond showing CGI representations of exploding buildings. I have tried to figure out why this *edited* is so popular. I have two theories: 1. Fans are so mesmerized by the pretty visuals that they are willing to ignore the pure, rampaging force of bad-film that the film spews at all times, or 2. Their nostalgia-filters are overruling their good sense.
This film is garbage, and if you like it, I reserve the right to laugh at you behind your back.

Having watched some of the original animated show I can tell you there was almost always a plot but it was drug out almost as bad as DBZ was. The difference was people got tired of it and the show tanked.
I get no nostalgia from remakes like this but I’m sure that’s what’s driving a chunk of the older audience.

Spectatori did get notsalgia from watching the first transformers. I’m only 21 but when the reruns were on in the very early 90s I can still remember them. I liked the first one but still havent seen the second one for a couple of reasons. I keep getting mixed reviews. The way Bay directs a film is pure *edited*. And these are the films I usually let one of my friends buy and watch at their house for free because I dont want to pay into the franchise.
by the way in CT an avg movie is about $9.50-10.50 and matinee is $6, in maine where I go to school the avg movie is $5 and on wed for students its $3.50.

SpectatorI mean its to each his own sorta thing… some ppl like it some don’t. I personally liked the movie. Was it perfect? No way. But I thought it was pretty decent. I actually watched it in theaters twice (only paid once). TBH there are a lot of other movies that everyone likes that I think are *edited* so I say it depends on the person. If you don’t like it (or at least don’t like Michael Bay- totally understandable)… don’t watch it? Not that hard.

SpectatorOverall I like the movie. Its just on the way home from it , I started thinking about it and all the holes in the story.
It was funny how in the beginning of the movie OP was the same size as Megatron, while in the first movie, Megatron was considerably larger than OP.
Oh and I didn’t like how they made out Star Scream to be a sniveling *edited*.

send to *edited*ing print.
I totally agree. “film” requires a lot more than good graphics and huge explosions to be successful. They should degrade most of this *edited* coming out these days to something lower than film. Put it in it’s own class of crappy movies. Call it shmovies. Comparing this crime on creativity to a decent movie like Blade Runner, is like comparing a fillet mignon to a piece of cow*edited*. Starship Trooper is on the top of the shmovies all time greatest btw. Great *edited*ing shmovie.
