SpectatorWhile the LAN is about a month away it is never too early to get ready for it. This will be our first Team Fortress 2 tourney so I want to know what you all want or think would be good for the tourney.
Suggest away!

SpectatorHah, I think about this almost daily
I think there should be more to who advances than high score; it should also involve the winning team having more (or all) advancing
somthing like if the tourney is 24 ppl all 12 advance from the winning team but only the top 6 or 8 from the losing team or something like that.
I would like to see lots of gravel pit and dustbowl and well and less of 2fort because I think team capture is better than capture the intelligence… though maybe its just b/c I hate 2 fort.
Maybe we should have people sign up as teams if they wish, since it is “team” fortress after all.

Spectatorit’d be a very hard thing not to do in teams… everyone smart would pick spy, as they have 2 ways to get 2 points… backstab and sapping, which are their main things… spy can rocket points in a minute. I think you’d almost have to do 6 man teams… with limits on classes

SpectatorThat works great until it comes down to getting overall winners; I would guess it would have to be 2 overall winners or something like that like in DOD.
Also, if you just wanted to get points, you could be an engy and just make a teleport entrance and exit right next to each other and just continuously go through them (of course, this would probably cause your team to lose, which is why the losing team should have fewer people advance).

Spectatoryeah i was just making a point… you can do lots of things for kind of cheap points, it’s why it would be hard for most points to be a winner… heal people in the base as a medic… 1 pt for every 1000 healing and 1(2?) pt(s) for every uber…

SpectatorCacophony, RiceKrispies, and I discussed this some on irc and threw up these ideas:
1) More ppl advance from the winning team than the losing team
Ex: if we start with 12v12, 10 advance from winning, 8 from losing, etc.
2) Use mainly tc and cp maps; threw up the ideas to use hydro, well, granary, and I proposed ctf_turbine_v3 if we need to use a ctf map, due to its small size

Good luck with that. Kappa will be my biggest threat but that’s only because he fags it up with the Spy. No *edited*ing skill necessary.

SpectatorI vote we copy the team aspect over to DOD:S as well as that is (or should) be more team based than it was at the last lan.
December 9, 2007 at 3:53 pm #31956Cacophony
SpectatorYeah, teams did end up being very fun.
It’d work well in DOD:S too.December 9, 2007 at 4:17 pm #31959Nickname
