Spectatorhow about rtd
August 5, 2008 at 5:03 pm #53340Pink Monkey #16
SpectatorGenerally I would support this, but I think map voting has had its run as has map rotation. At the end of the day, I like rotation a lot better, because certain people vote for *edited* maps and wonder why the server empties. So state which maps go slow, and perhaps we could shorten them?
August 5, 2008 at 5:29 pm #53342peanut
SpectatorI second #16. One of the problems with rtv is only a few maps win each time, so there is much less variation. I think a change up in the rotation may be a better solution. If you are a reg, you know the rotation, and how to see what’s coming up next. If you don’t like a map, take off for a few and come back. Different people like different maps.

Spectatorrtv that would skip to next map in rotation?
RTR?
rock the rotation lol
same concept but instead of putting up a map vote it would just go to nextmap.
ON ALL SERVERS
i also fully support RTD ON ALL SERVERS =) atleast 1.6 haha

SpectatorI say no rtv but we should give the admins back the ability to put up a map vote for dust 2 if the server needs populated

Spectatori agree with #18. rtv is full of fail. give admins the ability to bring up a vote for d2, or, God help my soul, office.

Spectatorwell, you see, once upon a time, rtv was enabled on the server. there were many bad votes for many bad maps, ensuing in gratuitous amounts of fail. therefore, rtv is full of fail.
August 5, 2008 at 11:44 pm #53373MajorMajorMajor
Spectatori think i should point out that rtv does not mean votemap entirely
what would be most effective is a rotation with a rtv component that if needed would allow a vote of random maps from the rotation taking into account maps just played and maps previously voted
that way u may end up playing d2, office, and other popular maps more often, but it wont become a 24/7 d2 server
you would still have the rotation to follow

SpectatorI actually like the idea of rocking the rotation, that way the population gets off of the current map, and you do not mess with the rotation…
August 6, 2008 at 2:11 am #53379Citan001
SpectatorWhy not set it so that we cant rtv unless there are like under 10 people or something.
August 6, 2008 at 9:53 am #53389peanut
SpectatorWell giving admin vote powers for maps would be similar to the rtv for under 10 people, since rule is that cannot initiate map vote unless server is less than half full. But will an rtv mod screw with the rotation? My vote is in for rock the rotation, and just move onto the next map.
August 6, 2008 at 10:07 am #53392YahooEarth
SpectatorThe way the mapvote used to work was it would switch the map and basically just take the place of the next map in the rotation, then go back to where it was in the rotation…but that rule is basically gone now since admins cannot even make map votes…soooo…rock the mother *edited*ing rotation…

August 6, 2008 at 8:15 pm #53413MasterP
SpectatorI asked liam to set up voting on CSS like a month ago. Not sure why it hasn’t happened yet. I’ll remind him.
The map changing policy that I have requested is listed below.
MasterP said:
For CSS:Please enable a PLAYER initiated RTV requiring 60% to say “rtv” or “votemap” to start a random map vote. Also display a message after each player says rtv/votemap telling #wanting/#required to change the map.
Please enable admins to start a votemap. Do NOT give them full mapchanging access, if they want to change the map they have to go where the players want.
