Respawn Time

so basically all you are saying is you have a script; I dont think its fair to punish those without scripts…

I voted for 4 seconds only because I usually have to wait a couple seconds after I am done buying (and am really impatient). I appreciate a good rush, but I think a buy time is important (although I wouldn’t mind ours being a second or two shorter).

There is nothing wrong with the times on the server and it makes me question why you would want to change the times . Most people that want to change something like that have reasons that aren’t good for the club or server. And saying you can buy in 0 time tells me you have a buy script and just because you can buy your stuff fast means we should change the buy time on the server to suit you?

Ex, must you always assume the worst about people? I mean, I appreciate the fact that you are looking out for WCU, but honestly, not everyone who has a suggestion is doing it for their own personal gain. What is the point of a forum if we can’t have open debate on issues like this?

Well, I think any number of conclusions can be drawn. First, he never stated that he can buy in zero time (as that WOULD be impossible without a script). What I inferred is that he can buy relatively faster than most other people on the server. One could make the argument (and I play devil’s advocate here), that the ability to buy quickly can be likened to a skill or ability, the possession of which merits some reward (i.e. increased ability to rush). I can’t think of any map (except perhaps in some instances dust2) where this would allow someone to kill somebody as they buy (particularly if it were a 3 or 4 second timer), but it WOULD allow them to position themselves in a more advantageous location on account of their superior buying ability.

Again, I play devil’s advocate on this, not so suggest a zero buy time is the right solution, but only to point out that questioning somebody’s intentions in the manner that was done, may not be the best way to instigate productive discussion on the matter.

There are probably other possible explanations (And I would love to hear them), such as simply not wanting to wait 2 or 3 extra seconds every round). Anyway, I will keep thinking of ideas, and I hope other’s will also contribute (you could also argue that a long buy time gives an additional advantage to the team with more money to spend – that is, the winning team).

Ex, you know I don’t engage in personal attacks, and please don’t take my response to be that. We both want whats best for WCU and the server, but we can have legitimate differences about policy and what have you, and still do that.

I think the argument to the zero second buy time is similar to the bunny hopping rule. Our server is a pub, and the people that play here are not cal-m monsters that have scripts or can buy in their sleep. We are trying to look out for every caliber of player, and if that means not allowing bunny hopping for various reasons, or giving people 3-4 seconds to buy, then so be it. We are advocating a fun play environment (with the attempt at objectives of course) and we don’t want people have more advantages than others.
