SpectatorSo….
I’m looking for a free registry cleaner. I think Spybot S&D’s TeaTimer has one but i dunno how to use it (or really if it has one)
does ne1 know of a free one to use, or will i have to shell out 20 dollars for a licensed copy?

SpectatorTeatimer is runtime protection. Don’t use it. It doesn’t really work anyway.
Spybot S&D scans the registry as part of it’s general scan and should catch most malware related problems. You can also use CCleaner for more general stuff.
Most registry programs are overly invasive and I wouldn’t use them if you paid me. If you have a specific problem in mind, google it for the exact answer, other than that you need to avoid playing in the registry as you can screw things up in a jack flash.

Basically Idiot me had AOL toolbar installed into firefox. i removed it from the toolbar and add-ons menu, but it still shows up as “AOL search” in the main address bar not the usual Google-Esq “I’m feeling lucky”
ie. Look at pic below
so needless to say im very frustrated and every site I’ve looked at for removing AOL toolbar says that after the uninstall i should run a reg clean to remove that AOL *edited* that is left behind
so reg cleaner wont help me in this case or what?

Start with CCleaner for sure as its pretty safe. Run the regular cleaner part then click the registry tab and run that and click “delete all selected items”. That might help. If that doesn’t work, try uninstalling firefox, run ccleaner again, and reinstall firefox.
