Spectatordice had a plump list of meeting topics in the cookout thread, since that meeting fell through.
July 7, 2008 at 4:44 pm #50578Bitey

-Fliers all over the place. The reason I first got involved in the club is that I saw a flier in the UC for the first meeting of the semester.
-I remember several days after I first moved into my dorm there was a huge event near the belltower where all the clubs set up booths and tried to recruit new members. Does anyone know if this will be done again anytime soon? If so, we should get a booth.
-Remember how we set up a little “gaming kiosk” before the 2008.2 LAN? We should keep that up.
July 7, 2008 at 7:16 pm #50602Bitey
SpectatorFliers for sure.
You attended Valley Ballywhoo as far as I know we are working on acquiring a table for this event for the Gaming Club, this means we will need people there and available to staff it.
The “gaming kiosk” will continue for every LAN as long as I am President after that it will be up to whoever takes over.

Spectatorill do ballyhoo… if you do it too mr president

Spectatorballyhoo, *edited*, why dident i think of that… great exposure for the club. great idea

SpectatorI will do vallybally and put up fliers or whatever you all want
July 7, 2008 at 9:09 pm #50632Ephraim
SpectatorI might be able to do ballyhoo. It depends on when I move my stuff.
Why is it called Valley Ballyhoo? The college isn’t in a valley, is it?
July 7, 2008 at 9:31 pm #50642Bitey
SpectatorLol yeah believe it or not Cullowhee is in a valley.
Also I will probably be able to be there for the ballywhoo just depends on when I move my stuff into the apartment.
July 8, 2008 at 3:23 am #50675Cacophony
SpectatorOf course this is a valley. Havent you noticed our very silly weather patterns compared to the rest of this region? Rain when it snows….heat when it rains…etc etc.

Valley ballyhoo is a fine idea, btw.

SpectatorIf you guys can schedule the meeting for a Wednesday, I can definitely make it up.
I’m off Tues/Wed/Thurs now.July 8, 2008 at 3:17 pm #50703Kappamerc
SpectatorI was wondering why we didnt’ do Ballyhoo last year. Even if we didn’t get a table we could always hand out fliers!
At any rate, the ballyhoo event is a prime place to get new people into the club. I 100% this one and would be willing to staff it, assuming I didn’t have work or classes ^^. (can’t remember if its before or after classes start).

SpectatorAugust 15th is the date for anyone else wondering.
July 9, 2008 at 4:27 pm #50789Oh Malley
SpectatorI’d be nifty if there was some sort of gift or novelty item we could hand out instead of a flier.

btw… raffles are technically against the law and we could get in trouble if we are caught doing a raffle on the UC lawn while about 85% of the staff is present:)

SpectatorThen not make it a raffle, make it a 1 dollar charitable donation a hat and we will put their name in a hat or something.
July 13, 2008 at 3:28 pm #51206Falcon
Spectatoreh, it would be spectacular publicity, doubly so if we make the news for the biggest bust on campus, just I’d recommend not crossing WCU’s legal branch if we can help it, SGA wouldn’t be as friendly afterwards…
if nothing else, roll out the banners and grab some fliers for fall meeting #1, and bring some of your loot from the LANs to show off (giveaway not necessarily recommended unless you have enough to keep the table happening all evening) and/or pics of the loot winners, that should get some attention. Plus, if you do this and take pics to show to the sponsors, it’s a win-win situation

Spectatornice idea falcon. it would be cool if the Marking admin was up to it, but make a slideshot of some of the better lan photos.
most people i talk to about the club think its a small 10-15 member nerd camp. we really should display whats going on and how pop this club is.

Spectatorah yes… and Mr. Bitey – I’d propose spawning a thread to list all the recommendations for the first fall meeting to keep track, I didn’t see one

also, if anyone can and desires to contact gxti… between him, me, and I believe Kuros and someone else, we worked some on a club flier. ‘twould prolly be too late to debut at Valley-watcher-ma-call-it, but that would be something else to see if we can get our hands on, and/or begin anew on.

But we know how well that ideas gone in the past. But I agree, get a comp running a slide show of the pictures from past LANs, maybe get some small handouts notifying people of our servers. For console players, either get a TV with some GH running on it.. or a similar handout with a list of gamertags, the big games on campus, advertising a WCU Console Facebook group, or something. Whatever idea you think will work.

SpectatorHey Falcon you will see one shortly have no fears
