SpectatorBe there. And I’ll make sure M.A. is awake and on time.
And I say we vote on the status of the t-shirt idea. Last meeting, we said there would be a thread and voting and whatever. I say we either start from scratch or scrap the idea entirely.

SpectatorDuring the meeting, I hope you’ll bring up that the invision gallery (the gallery purchase in question), is a full featured extension of the forum system, and is very capable.
I’ll set up a demo today.

SpectatorExcuse me, actual club members.
Game Server Admins don’t need to be at club meetings.
November 7, 2007 at 12:44 pm #30438Ashley Faulkner
SpectatorActually, it would be good to have the game server admins as they are counted as members as well. Meetings are for Club Members, Club Executives, and all other interested parties. If you have something positive to add to the discussion you are welcome to attend.
And as the server and games are often part of the meeting discussions I don’t see why the Game Server Admins should not attend as it affects them as well, especially if they have information about the server that the club should be made aware of. We rely on the server admins to enforce the club rules, but often they do not know them. We have run into this several times before. If we include the admins into the discussions at our meetings, they might be a little more informed next time they enforce our rules.

Spectatorat one time, admins that attend western were required to show up at the meetings,,, but for what ever reason this has slacked off all teh way to CL’s and even execs now showing up… my memery is *edited* but i think we only has 2-3 execs at the last meeting… and 2 CL’s
but yeah everyones allowed to attend,, even people not in the club that may be intereasted or not… we have never told anyone they cant show up.. more input the better
November 7, 2007 at 2:15 pm #30453Ashley Faulkner
SpectatorI’m thinking that there should be some requirement that attendance is mandatory if you hold a position unless you get it approved to miss a meeting or LAN event. We really need our executives and Council Leaders at EVERY meeting, or what is the point of holding the meetings if they ones that make the decisions don’t even bother to attend? I know that sometimes you have a paper due, or an exam to study for or you have to work, but there is no excuse for continued absence, if you really are that busy that you can’t attend a simple meeting, you should not be holding a position because you don’t have time for the club either. I have always felt this way.
November 7, 2007 at 2:18 pm #30454Nickname
Spectatorok let’s just fire every exec and cl that doesn’t show up to the meeting without informing kuros beforehand.
seriously, there is no excuse for it. I will throw up a vote to add it into the constitution at the next meeting if I have to. I have things to do but I make time to go to the meetings because they are held for a reason; people in power positions should do the same.
November 7, 2007 at 4:14 pm #30465Liam
SpectatorI wont be there. I can’t justify 2.5 hours on the road on a night I have school. If everyone wants to conference me in I’ll be happy to do that.

SpectatorSorry nickname, abritt, sometimes people have very urgent business, like grandparents who need taking care of on occasion. I know I’ve missed two meetings because of them. Would you like my resignation now? There’s a chance I may miss more in the future. Sorry I can’t be there for those really clutch votes where every person matters. Oh wait sorry, fancy of the imagination popping up there.
Have those obligations hurt my performance as the source cl? I honestly desire your opinion there, sarcasm aside. Answer that if you actually play on the server or attended the tournament for source at the last lan.
Last point, this goes back to our wonderful process of ratification. The vast majority of debating and deliberating anything that has to do with the club goes on here, on the forums. Say Cacophony missed the next meeting and we had to vote on stuff for the TF2 lan, we already pretty much know what he wants based on the topic here on the forums, are we incomptent enough that slack can’t be picked up on occasion.
November 7, 2007 at 6:02 pm #30475pyro urban
Spectatori think it should work like this.
all club members are mandated to go to the meeting. or atleast the higher ups. we should also have it linked to vent or a phone so that those who live over an hour away and cant make it could listen in and voice their opinion. i live in jersey and thats about a good 10 hours away. i can’t go to lans much less meetings that are less than an hour long. so everyone is mandated to go and if you can’t because of school or family or you have a good reason then just tell an exec or kuros. you won’t be punished or anything. but if you didn’t go to the meeting or listen in just because you felt like playing halo you should be forced to run 5 miles in the pouring rain(or something like that lol).

I am pretty sure I said that if you let Kuros know beforehand (not that difficult to pick up a phone) then it’s really not a problem. The problem is when people just decide not to come for the hell of it.
November 7, 2007 at 7:06 pm #30490Ashley Faulkner
Spectator(/Begin Sarcasim)Sorry for thinking that admins and executives should be held accountable for missing meetings where important decisions are made…my bad.
I didn’t name call, I wasn’t calling for resignations, I wasn’t even complaining. I was explaining a truth. But as usual, you guys are attacking me. Let me put my thoughts in a different way so that maybe just maybe ONE person will actually read what I wrote and STOP jumping to conclusions and get defensive for NO reason unless they have a guilty conscience. (/End of Sarcasim)
Executives and Council Leaders should be at EVERY meeting, because the club does not hold that many meetings, and when they do, it is for an important reason. So we can stop this thinking that nothing important happens at meetings, because sorry to contradict you guys but Kuros has BETTER things to do that sit in a room with a bunch of people that doesn’t want to be there. Remimber his Wife is Pregnant and he does have a life as well.
Every meeting is about a LAN. Every meeting is about a game we host. Every meeting is about getting our name out there. Every meeting is about getting more and better sponsors. Every meeting is about keeping this club alive. And when our executives stop coming to meetings, it sets an example to the other members that if the executives don’t care why should they.
Yes why should they? You guys are about to lose a President and do you even have anyone in mind to replace Kuros? Do you have any idea who will be as dedicated to this club as Kuros, Adambomb and NoDice have been? It takes dedication. It takes time. Yes you have a life, yes you are there to learn, yes you have family obligations. But if they take so much time from you that you can not dedicate sufficient time to the club, please do as two of our past Presidents have done, STEP DOWN.
I am not calling for anyone to step down, I have no problems with the executives that currently hold positions. When I said that this has always been my position, I mean it, I called for the resignation of one of our founders from VP of Admin position, because he did not attend meetings, He did not have time for the club. He recognized it as well, but refused to give up his position, so instead others had to pick up the slack because he didn’t do his job. I called for the resignation of one of our past Treasurers because he never attended meetings and didn’t do his job as well. I became the unofficial treasurer because he failed to do his job. This is what I mean, when you can’t make time for meetings because you forgot or whatever the excuse is of the day then you might also start to neglect your duties and someone else has to pickup your slack. I saw this happening at the last LAN. I won’t point any names, and I don’t mean the M.A. either, but there were some executives that weren’t fullfilling their duties and believe me IT WAS NOTICED.
In the end, if you have something positive to contribute to the club, they want you to attend the meetings. If you hold an elected position you should be there out of obligation and duty and most importantly because you want to be there. If you were appointed, you should be there because someone in this club thought enough of you to give you admin because you are obviously an active member in the forums and on the servers. It is understood if you do not live on campus and are not a student at WCU that you might not attend. That is a given. But if you attend WCU, sorry but all I’ve heard thus far are excuses, not reasons.
Oh, and yes the forums are used as a form of communication. But as anyone who has actually attended a meeting can attest to, we do not cover the same material on the forums as we do in the meetings. The people who attend the meetings are typically more dedicated and vote on club executives, LAN event dates, Games that will be played, server games, what games we support and host, where the LAN’s will be hosted, and other VERY IMPORTANT information. As one that has been with this club since its conception it bothers me, when I read executives or members say that attending meetings aren’t that important and that nothing important was covered. If nothing important happened, then we wouldn’t hold a meeting.
Thanks Nickname, you actually read my post!
