SpectatorSo who’s going and what are you planning on playing?
I’m not sure that I will make this one. I usually like to get ballz or one of my other friends to come with me. It’s about an hour and a half further from Winnsboro than it was when I was in Clemson… so 3+ hours.

That’s what you think

SpectatorWell, some sort of SC for sure. I’d actually prefer SC:BW for balance and lag issues.
September 15, 2010 at 5:03 pm #105345MasterP
SpectatorYeah it takes Blizzard a dozen or so patches to perfectly balance a Starcraft game. I don’t really see it replacing SCBW as the main competition game in the series for at least a year, probably two.

Too late, already has. Korean leagues and everything already, CPL, etc. etc. etc.
September 15, 2010 at 11:39 pm #105350MasterP
SpectatorYeah ok. Which Korean leagues? From what I read, idk maybe you read something else, most of the current SCBW professionals haven’t switched to SC2 yet and virtually none of the bracket leaders have moved over. I mean yeah if you include the lesser leagues like GSL but Starleague and MSL haven’t announced a switch yet.
Btw, CAL is HoN only, CPL hasn’t even announced a tournament yet let alone games, and WCG is using SCBW.

The reason why you don’t see Starleague (OSL) players currently playing SC2 is because OSL is finishing their last season, when OSL finishes players such as Jaedong and Flash will be moving over to SC2. Players such as the WerRRa’s and other pro-korean teams have already been making the switch to SC2 and some are playing in GSL.

Former acting coach of Pantech Curitel and former coach of WeMade Fox, Mr. Won Joongwook has returned to the e-sports scene as the head coach of the brand new Starcraft II team ‘STARTALE.’Mr. Won, who played a key role in the founding of WeMade Fox, began his e-Sports career in march of 2003 with Toona SG, the predecessor of WeMade Fox. He remained with the team through its multiple sponsor changes, as SG Family, Pantech and Curitel Curriors, Pantech EX, and finally as WeMade FOX.
Joining STARTALE will be a number of well known ex-Brood War pros. Most notable is JulyZerg, there are also many other familiar names such as ZergLee, IntotheRainbow, and Silver. Even Silent_Control will be joining them soon in October, when his military service ends. Rounding up the lineup is Ssoja, a protoss player who has competed in the GSL as of late.
Startale (called ST for short) will begin activities as a team in earnest this coming October.

The “God of War”, July, has officially announced that he will be moving to Starcraft 2.July, who belonged in STX Soul, did not recontract after his contract ended at the end of August. He revealed that he will be joining a Starcraft 2 team in order to take up on another challenge. Thus, July is the second progamer, after Iron, to officially announce his move to Starcraft 2. He is the first of the three “Top Star” Progamers to officially announce the fact.
July will be joining a new Starcraft 2 team that is in the middle of creation, run by a coach who has previously coached in a Progame team before. There are other players such as Kim Song Jae, Lee Chang Hoon, and Shim So Myung, and they will have an official announcement regarding their creation sometime soon.
When asked about why he was transitioning to Starcraft 2, he said that “Because I didn’t have many opportunities to play in official matches, I felt my purpose on the team diminish. I really wanted to play in a match. During this time, I got to play Starcraft 2. At the beginning, I didn’t have much interest in it, but over time, I got more and more interested and soon after I decided that I wanted to be active as a gamer in Starcraft 2 as I got better at the game.”
Regarding Starcraft 2’s gameplay, he said that “I think the game has gotten more difficult compared to the original”, adding that “But because I had experience playing Starcraft as a progamer, I’m getting better rapidly.” He added that “I’m currently the first place in my Diamond League, and I’m over 1500 points”.
Regarding his playing in the TG Sambo-Intel SC2 Open Season 2, he said that “My goal obviously is to win”, and added a confident remark, saying that “I’ve been watching the players who has passed the preliminaries of Season 1, and I thought I could have definitely won”
Finally, July said that “There may be a lot of people who knew about this before, and there may be a lot of you who only learned about this through this article, but I am planning on being as diligent as I was when I was active as a Starcraft progamer”, and adding that “While I’m now active in Starcraft 2, I am asking for my fans to continue to cheer for me just as before”.

SpectatorStarleague and MSL are done for the year…
So, like I said, none of the real leaders have switched yet and none of the major leagues have commented on switching either.
If this was going to be their last BroodWar season I imagine they’d have advertised as much, it’d have made the crowds bigger. Marketing 101.

SpectatorBack on topic, has anyone contacted ITS about fixing Starcraft2?

Others may think differently, but I do feel like if the time has come, there is no better way for Brood War to be sent off.Main Reason why SC2 isn’t “fully supported yet”: http://www.mymym.com/en/news/18905.html

I know Tallgeese has contacted Stephen and Stephen explained to him that the filtering software wasn’t set to block anything and that SC2/WoW/etc weren’t supposed to be filtered improperly. Stephen added that it could possibly be that some packets are accidentally being sent into the trash during play and because of that is causing the packet loss/lag that we are experiencing. I’d love to see Stephen at the LAN sitting there fixing this, much like when he helped us fix our Vista connectivity issues we had at a previous LAN. I’ll try to find out from Daniel later if he’s sat down with Stephen if he doesn’t respond here first.
Also, I saw some fliers today! Woo

If some packets are being “accidentally” filtered or trashed regardless of what port or protocol they’re using then there’s nothing they can do about it.
The Vista problem at the LANs was a global problem with the way campus switches utilized IPv6. It’s highly unlikely that Stephen will do the same for SC2/WoW/etc because it’s not something that can balloon outward to affect all machines, in his mind anyway. And he’s right, it won’t, right up until the point that it does.
Why don’t you guys do your own packet tracing?
