SpectatorSo, basically, the day before yesterday, I enjoyed some great counterstriking with you guys, but yesterday, I woke up, got the new steam update, and I ran counter strike source.
And it failed.
It failed so hard, I almost cried.
I was getting fps of around 10-20 on average, and whenever there was smoke or an explosion, everything slowed the hell down. I started getting really worried, that maybe my computer’s graphics card died again or something. I really do not want to have to go back to the days of *edited*ty graphics! Please help D:
I have a laptop with a nvidia GeForce 9200M graphics card(256mb) and Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. Dual Core Intel chipset, at 2.00 GHz each, 4gb ram.
My predicament is that I can still run other high end games on mid to low graphics perfectly fine, like Burnout Paradise, CoD4, and Mass Effect.
And yes, my graphics card is up to date. What really bothers me is the sudden onset of this problem. I’ve never had such bad framerates until yesterday and today.
Also, this seems to occur on all servers, not just WCU. It’s worst when there are lots of other cts/ts running around me, or if a grenade goes off somewhere.
I’ve also just deleted CS:S, and am reinstalling it to see if that fixes the problem…

SpectatorDo you still get playable framerates in CoD4? If so it’s a CSS problem, not a computer problem. Reinstall CSS and make sure you delete all local content when you do.
If you get bad framerates in CoD4 then it’s probably poor cooling on the video or processor or a failing video card.

SpectatorI will sell you a 9800 GX2 for $200.

Spectator@ Kuros: I’d buy it, except this is a laptop. >.<
@ Nodice: I’m not experiencing any of the problems they listed though…
@MasterP: I’ve never had perfect framerates with CoD4, and I’m running it in way lower resolution than CS:S(CoD4 at 960×480 and CS:S at 1280xsomething), but the framerates are still much better.
But, regardless, I’ve deleted the local content of CS:S, and am redownloading it now.

Spectatorsometimes i get 9 fps

Spectator*edited*, that sucks, Dean. You still own though, if it makes you feel better about your *edited*ty FPS.
At least its better than small penis.
The above aside, has everyone here noticed a slight decrease in FPS/framerate since a recent steam update? Because I asked a friend, and he told me he had the same issue as I did… a sudden FPS decrease on CS:S.

Spectatoryou seem to miss one key detail… this happened suddenly, following a steam update. it could be some bad patches from steam, if the problem comes back up, then it might get resolved with the next steam update or so…

I’ve still been kinda away from CS:S because of it, but I actually adjusted my rates, and the gameplay was much smoother. I still got really bad framerates when I fire and/or look directly at an explosion.
But yeah, hopefully, this problem will magically go away soon.

SpectatorIssue has been resolved.
Turns out it was the funky-*edited* June Steam update that screwed things up, mainly for computers with Intel Dual Core processors.

Spectatorwhat did you find out? cause i have a laptop with intel dual core processors.
normally i would lag crazy and it would go away but i just play through it

SpectatorMan. I was going to suggest it was a power supply problem til I found out this *edited* was a laptop. Oi mate.
