Think about this for a second. Its very easy to make source mods. I had a great idea, and I know NoDice will like this, hehe.
Think about this:
Grand Theft Auto: Source
I mean, I could get started (and get a team to help build upon) on a mod for HL2, which would basically be Grand Theft Auto.
The main idea:
The ability to choose between first or third person.
Amazing graphic models and remakes of the original cities from the GTA Series, such as Vice City or Liberty City.
Cars. Of course.
Pedestrians, with all models redone to match and put to shame all the originals.
Shooting/murder/violence. Yes.
Ragdoll physics, something the GTA fans begged for since the release of GTA3 for PS2.
MISSIONS! Including voice acting! Which won’t be that hard.
It will be easy, however, very time consuming.
My original plan was to recreate call of duty as a source game, due to the fact that DoD:S bloze.
great concept, its soulds like a good 300HOUR project…
idk how the cars drive in source, but 1.6 they blow, and if they arnt as good in source as gta, i wound not even try, b/c the point of GTA is the AUTO part of it.
seemls like it would be easyer getting the GTA code and modiying it for your likings… ??? but WTF do i know, i’m an engineer

GTA isn’t that great of a game though =/.
Just because a lot of people bought it doesn’t mean it’s objectively great. It is pretty fun though, for a while.

I havent complead a *edited* mission in the past 100+hr’s i’v played… this game will never get old.. Their is is not a time i play where something new does not happen. You just dont know how to play, TIP: google NRG500
Can one “not know how to play” GTA? Seriously, 3rd person view beating up people, stealing cars, stealing $, stealing guns, etc. Not a hard concept.
As gxti said, just because people buy it doesn’t mean it’s a great game. I thought the original game was fun, when they started coming out with Vice City, San Andreas, etc it started to get repetitive.
