Saw this on notebookreview.com… I have NO CLUE if this works but at least a couple posters vouched this method works. Someone try with a broken videocard or something and let me know lol

Take the HSF off the card itself. Clean all thermal paste off the card and clean the residue off the memory from the memory pads. Roll up 4 tinfoil balls about 1/4″ in diameter. Put the card on a cookie sheet with the tinfoil balls 1 at each corner.

Preheat your oven to 385* F. Carefully place the card in the oven and set a timer for 8 minutes EXACTLY. At 8 minutes turn off the oven and crack the door and give the card 30 minutes to cool down before removing it.

Put the card back together and you have a 70% chance it will be resurrected. Just did this with a 7800GTX out of an XPS Gen 2 and saved a friend $300

Now the secret is yours so you can proceed to yell the F word as you think about all the PC components you could have fixed using this method which has a roughly 70% success rate as most failed hardware believe it or not is due to weak solder joints made weaker by the heating and cooling process all PC’s go through.

This proccess is similar to what companies do to turn solder beads into solder joints when they lay components on a PCB. This reflows the solder often fixing a seemingly serious problem

Oh, with being out of warranty you have nothing to lose by trying this so I hope you do the smart thing here.

I really want to try this now. Someone give me something broken lol
