SpectatorI have been playing alot for the last few months and i always notice that some maps when loaded with ppl give alot of choke which creates a choppy/ laggy gameplay. i heard taht becuase of the players with the over a hundred pings creates alot of chokes which in turn creates this rough gameplay, i was wondering if there is anything to do about it? Would it be reasonable to kick a player because his ping is hurting the game for others and the server. I started this to shed light on a not so talked about subject i just feel it would smooth the server a little and help keep servers full if choke is working then reg is better right?

SpectatorWe have an auto kicker for ping, i believe it is set at 200. As many will tell you, it takes a long time (~4-5 rounds) before it actually kicks someone.
Many admins do kick players for high ping on a regular basis, due to the dysfunctional nature of the auto kicker. I will usually kick a player who CONSISTENTLY has a ping of greater than 150, and only when the server is noticeably lagging at the time. Otherwise, I just let the autokicker (try to) do its job.
P.S. All this assumes you are talking about CS 1.6. I’m not sure if the source server has an autokicker.

SpectatorYes both servers have a ping kicker. I don’t suppose it would kick people with a 150 ping when the kicker is set to 200.

SpectatorKilling people to death? Well that’s good then, we wouldn’t want you to be killing people to be alive.

SpectatorYou should auto set people’s rates (on connection) when they get in so they can’t mess with them and have 50 ping and look unbelievably choppy so nobody can hit them.

SpectatorA player with a high ping will not lag a server.
The player will be lagging and make him/her harder for everyone to shoot but won’t lag the server. But yeah they should be kicked for that anyway.
