SpectatorWhy don’t you just configure it so they can use custom player and gun skins? It’s not an “all or nothing” deal.

SpectatorBecause we want to review them.

So now you’re going to install and test EVERY custom skin before it’s used on the server? I hate to say that sounds retardedly nazish but it kinda does. If wallhacks are the primary concern why not simply block the files assosciated with walls?
Also, you intend to put EVERY custom skin approved on the server? What happens when they are updated? This seems like a ton of extra work when you need it the least.

SpectatorSometimes you have to do a little extra work for things

SpectatorIf you wish to reinstate yourself as CL then please, take over this process and do it however you feel is best MasterP.

September 1, 2008 at 12:40 am #54933Liam
SpectatorDo it however you think is best if you want to. The whitelist is totally customizeable.
September 1, 2008 at 9:11 am #54964Nickname
SpectatorMake the change in the whitelist so that:
// // By default, when in pure server mode, most content file types are only allowed to come from Steam. // materials\... from_steam models\... from_steam sound\... from_steam // // Allow custom player models. Don't do CRC checks on them because the clients may all // have different custom models and the server won't have them all. // materials\models\player\... allow_from_disk materials\models\weapons\... allow_from_disk models\weapons\... allow_from_disk models\players\... allow_from_disk
Congrats, custom player and weapon skins now work again.

SpectatorI already commented on this as per what Bitey wants done. If you want a custom skin, attach it to this thread.

SpectatorMaybe the above post was directed at MasterP?

SpectatorI think there should be a short meeting following the main meeting on Tuesday to sort this out how its going to be done; like just a convo between the president, VP, webmaster, and CSS CL, and decide how everybody wants to deal with the custom skin thing.
IN THE MEANTIME I think we should allow all the skins but that is just IMHO.
EDIT: nvm let’s just bring the issue up for club vote.
September 1, 2008 at 9:28 am #54974Liam
SpectatorDon’t get me wrong. I’m not trying to be an *edited* about this, but I am going to do what I was asked to do in the way I was asked to do it, but then again, maybe I’ll just leave.

I never said anything about you being an *edited* or whatever. All I did was give my suggestion to fix this.

Spectatorpersonally, all i see is the club execs dealing with this. I never seen a vote with the rest of the community seeing how we are the ones that play in the server and keep it full. Shouldnt we have say in it. Yes we talked about the zblock thing but there never was vote, yeah its working out fine and no one has a problem with it, but now your talking about sending skins, if its approved then they’ll add it to the server. And i know you want to put in the extra work to do that but i speak for a lot of people who has added *edited* to different things one by one and that *edited* gets completely old. I see the same people talking about this issue and your the only ones that get to have a say???
I know you guys go to the University, Its your Server. But again We keep the server full and its reputation up. I respect what you guys are doing but I think we should have an impacting say.

You have a point clava, but at the same time, it was the President’s decision to implement Zblock, and he has the authority to do it without casting a vote. And zblock is already supposed to block skins to begin with…so they are actually trying to make it so that we can keep zblock going at full capacity, and allow people to keep their skins as well…
September 1, 2008 at 11:23 am #54986Liam
SpectatorIt’s already setup so that zBlock runs with sv_pure 1 and allows custom skins.
September 1, 2008 at 12:19 pm #54991Bitey
SpectatorI never said zBlock would be permanent, I said that I wanted to test it out on our main servers for a week. After everyone had a chance to use it and see what it really was like instead of basing their opinions on someone else’s opinions or from what they “heard”, I had planned on putting up a vote for the community to vote on, I didn’t want people passing judgment on something they haven’t even given the slightest bit of opportunity, this way you are forced to at least try it out.
Please bear with us if you are having issues with your skins, communicate with us and we will do what we can to alleviate that problem for you, don’t just assume we know, we don’t know everyone’s specific problems you have to speak up and let us know.
