SpectatorI’ll be holding the first console meeting of the semester this Friday in the Cat’s Den at 8 p.m. The purpose of this meeting will assess where we stand as far as what free play will go on at the LAN’s and also other events that we can possible hold. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come as we need plenty of opinions so that we can get a better grasp as to what steps we take next in the console development in the community.
Tentative Topics:
1. Free play games.
2. Possible additions to the tourneys or replacement.
3. Volunteer’s to help at the LAN’s.
4. Community involvement.
5. Tournament setup.
6. Any other ideas people might have.
As for the locations I know some of you wanted to do it in the UC seeing as how it’s the focal point of campus but the majority of the people that usually attend the console meetings live on the upper part of campus so I pick the Cat’s Den/ Brown. I look forward to seeing people there and can’t wait to get the ball rolling on this.
If you already have an idea that you would like to share please post them so I can go ahead and make note of it. Or if you have ideas and can’t make it to the meeting post them here so your opinions are still heard. Thank you.

SpectatorI think the Cat’s Den is a better fit as well being that the Cat’s Den would be a perfect place for a console mini-LAN imo.

They don’t have good internet, enough power, or enough useful tables to do any sort of LAN event. Plus this year their games are back to pay-to-play so there’s really no benefit over other places on campus that are better suited to your needs. Plus you’d have to pay Aramark to use the tables area or the UC to use the arcade area, neither of which will give you enough table space for a bunch of TVs and the projectors are useless as well.
For what it’s worth…

Spectatorthe den is about twice the size of the MP room. we have had over 120ppl in the MP room LAN for both pc and consul. the same arguments were brough up, no power outlets, only like 4 internet hookups, no tables, only use UC food, exc..) No one has ever contacted the den personell to see if they will suite our needs and if it would cost anything or end up being cheaper than the UC, or hell even free.
My advice is Dont get run off by the nay sayers before even finding out the facts. If we gave up before even trying to figure out if the UC could suit our needs we would be a PC only club, and still stuck in the computer labs on campus.
however that has noting to do with the meeting, in which the den would be a nice place to hold a meeting and grab some grub. though it might be alittle noisy?

Spectatorhave you actually ever eaten there before NoDice? lol

SpectatorI held my meetings there before with no problem. And again, it wouldn’t hurt to talk to the Cat’s Den to see what they have to offer. We’re going off what’s been done before. And again, a problem with this club is that we’re getting into a bad habit of just doing what’s worked before and not trying anything new.
There’s a reason why there’s been an explosion of growth in the console crowd.

SpectatorThe fries arent bad (though I liked it better when cheese fries was actually shredded cheese on top and not that orange paste crap) and some of the sandwiches are pretty good (Well, roast beast and the buffalo chicken. I hated the meatball sandwich I got.).
For the sake of being on topic, unless I forget or something else comes up I may try to be there.
