Through May 24, Newegg has a $20 promo code for WD Green 2TB 64MB cache drives. These are Western’s “high-end” green drives (if such a thing is possible).

With free shipping and the promo code they’re $120. Not bad if all you need is raw storage.

    HD Tune rates these at:

    Access Time = 19.2ms

    Burst Rate = 149.7MB/s

    Average transfer rate = 84.8MB/s

    Minimum transfer rate = 48.3MB/s

    Maximum transfer rate = 119.8MB/s

only buy this if you want one for storage only; I would never use a green drive as a boot drive

I got 3. One for backup to replace my WD Black that’s currently my backup drive, one for media center storage, and one for unbackedup storage.

But yeah, you’d never want to use a green or low-power drive as a boot drive.
