enough
Spectatorjust wondering if its an admins job to balance teams? seems reasonable to keep the game from getting rediculously one sided…. people started complaining, liam was asked to change the map, i understand it cant be changed if the server is more than half full… thats fine, but when i asked him to “come ct or balance the teams or something” he muted me…. he muted me twice and i never said a bad word or anything, just simply asked to balance teams. he even changed his name to “leave me alone” because people were complaining to him instead of doing something about it.
now it seems to me that an admin should keep the server happy… either by changing the map, or at least evening the teams when the server is over half full. or get the team balancer to balance the teams… i know it seems that when it is working, people *edited*, and when its not working people *edited* too… but when it works at least its only 2 or 3 that are getting switched doing the *edited*ing and not a whole team.
another alternative is just switch the teams halfway through the map. make everyone thats a T go CT and visa versa. but thats a little outrageous dont you think?
what do you think?
by the way the score was T=8 CT=0, and respectfully zoso and renton switched themselves later. props for that guys…

Spectatorhaha, its funny because just before this screenshot was taken i remember seeing 6-0 in t’s favor and the team balancer somehow thought 11 vs. 10 would be a good idea (11 t’s that is)… i know that you are working very hard on this liam… but sometimes it just seems a little wack
and as for the mute thing? i don’t know why you were muted… i was there and didn’t see any unjust behavior that deserved being muted for…. just positive critisism really, but thats just my 2 peso’s
goat
p.s. has anyone ever heard of auto assign, i know its written in greek here some where

SpectatorIt is generally a good idea to keep the teams balanced. However, I also believe that switching people ‘just because one team is winning’ is a pretty lame excuse for switching players around.
I personally only balance when one team doesn’t have enough players OR there is a clear clan stack going on.
The idea that a team has won 5 rounds and lost 0 rounds can’t, in and of itself, justify a team balance. There needs to be something ‘wrong’ that the players on the winning team are doing (namely clan stacking) in order to really have a good reason for switching people. In many cases I find that just switching 1 or 2 people can ruin the winning teams formula and simply flip flop which side ‘seems’ overpowered
.That being said, I will on occasion switch people that I know are excellent players who could help out the losing team.
Again, it is a subjective argument. Nobody likes being on the losing team. If the circumstances seem appropriate, I will balance the teams. Ultimately, it is each individual admins choice.

First of all, I muted you for being a rude and pushy. You complained about the team balancer, I said I would take a look at it. Then you continued complaining about it and not a single word you said was in any way constructive, you were simply whining to whine and I asked you to stop, you continued and so I muted you.
Then I unmuted you 5 minutes later, and you started telling me to balance the teams since my team balancer obviously wasn’t. Being as we were on Italy, 3/4’s of the CT’s were camping instead of rushing, I saw no reason nor justification to switch the teams around. I know that the majority of the terrorist wins that occurred on that map happened because the T’s went out and hunted down the camping CT’s.
As for changing the map, first off, I’m not changing the map when the server is full. It was at 12v12 at one point. Secondly, Italy was voted on, and third, I did a “Is this map nice to play on” twice, it came back a tie once and a solid win the second time, so sorry.
So, I’ll restate what I told you last night. I did a lot of work on the team balancer yesterday to correct a problem and I may have a bug I missed when I wrote the code. I’ll take a look at it and we’ll try it again.
Have fun.

SpectatorActually enough i was in the server at the same time and yes you were being a whine biatch liam has been working on the tb and has done some good work to it . Your lucky it wasn’t me that you were doing that to i would have banned you after the first mute . And we are bound by a set of rules that if we break we lose our admin for a time yes we are to make sure the server stays full and some what happy seeing as you cannot please everyone at the same time we have people that fill there is some sort of perfect system but let me tell you there isn’t and all servers have a hard time any one that tells you different is lying to you . there are many thing done by people you dont see . Now back to the tb i challenge anyone to make a perfect tb if you cannot then don’t complain so much if you see something cool tell liam about it but don’t be rude about it hes not being paid for his work and is doing it to help the server so remember DO NOT BE RUDE simple

SpectatorI don’t remember the whining, … I was paying attention to the game and actually playing it at the time.
The team balancer either, works really well, or it creates a bigger problem. But simply the fact that it causes some or any change to the teams is a plus side as an entire map cannot be brought to a stand still by one over powered team for the full 30 minutes. Which would be the situation without the balancer.
As for Italy, that was a joke. Everyone who was experienced enough to know it was a map that majorly favoured the terrorists went T, including myself. I then swaped to CT when the teams were clearly stacked and spent the next 5-6 rounds being awped and flashed on the left and right and held in the apartments until the far more experienced T team came around from behind to annihilate any of the team that managed to survive long enough to die last. The “Is this map good” vote was a load of crap, and anyone with half a brain knew it, the Ts all voted Yes and the CTs all voted No, which is where the Split vote came from, then I personally didn’t even see the second vote and I doubt many other CTs did too because the CT team had a hell of a job on their hands to get anywhere near the Hostages and little time to react to being shot at let alone a vote due to the constant rushing by a team that could actually aford rifles, so of course the vote went in favour of those who were easily racking up points. The balancer eventually did its job though, half way through the map we finally had a little organization on the CT team due to being brought over from the T team.
The balancer is fine, but lacks judgement, thats why you need Admins. Unfortunately we’re all prone to lapses in judgement from time to time, including Admins.
One thing I’d look into though is how the balancer switched Zoso 3 rounds in a row when he was only middle of the score board for both teams (I believe this was on Nuke,) while the CTs had 2 LightRomantics players who had 3-4 times the amount of kills as anyone else. It sorted it out in the end but that does seem a little erroneous. Perhaps people avoiding the balancer by Specing?

SpectatorIt is not supposed to grab the best player or worse player from the teams. It supposed to grab someone in the middle by my request, otherwise the over powered team just flipflops to the otherside after a few rounds. It’s complicated exactly how I had Liam set it up, so we won’t go into that. Just know that it’s a constantly evolving plugin and *edited*ing about it doesn’t fix it. Offering suggestions on the other hand…

The team balancer had a problem with the update I had done to it yesterday. I have corrected this and it should be working correctly as soon as it is uploaded again.
I did about 2 hours of testing this morning with my dedicated server and the team balancer with 23 bots and myself loaded in and it was balancing pretty well, better so than it had been at least.
