I’m really interested in Amazon Web Services (AWS). I’m just starting to really get into it. I’ve had some files on S3 for about 2 years now, but I what is really cool is the Elastic Computing Cloud (EC2).
Basically
- You can reserve an Elastic IP for just $0.01 for every hour you don’t use it and it’s free for every hour you do use it.
- Store a pre-configured image of a server (or really whatever you want) for $0.10 per Gig.
- Launch an instance of that anytime you want, and link it to the ip you have reserved. (Small instance is at $0.085 per hour)
It seems to me you could pre-configure a vent, ts, and prolly a cs or css server (depending on the load.. i’m not really sure) any time you want for really cheap (as long as you don’t leave the instance running all day).
Of course you can do this with a web server too, having php, and a persistant mysql database that can be used between instances!
