Perhaps it is just the time of year, and people are busy with summer activities, but the CS:S server has been stagnant as of late. There are far fewer regulars and admins logging on (I am guilty of this so some degree as well). Overall, there are vast swaths of “prime time” in which the server is empty, and it is filling up later, and emptying sooner than usual.
I am particularly concerned with you MasterP. You are the CL for CSS and yet I cannot remember the last time i saw you playing. Perhaps you are going by a different name when on CSS, but I know that you are online, as I see you playing L4D and TF2. While I have no issue with you playing other games, it would nice if you would make an appearance or two on the CSS server that you are in charge of.
Edit: Ok, so much for the anonymous part, I guess I messed something up. Either way, I stand by what I have said. It would just be nice to see the leadership a little more active in the CSS server is all.
I play CSS a few times a week, usually on our server but not always. Me being on the server won’t magically make it fill up again.
Considering that the CS16 server has had a similar drop I’m not sure that this is a problem I could fix anyway.
Besides the new mapcycle that’s coming up next week, what do you think I need to do that would actually fix the population drop off?
You can’t. It has happened every year for the past 4 years that I can remember. People go and do more things than play games during the summer. You should too.

You can understand the frustration however, when the server is empty on a Friday evening and the CL is nowhere to be found. Again, I am probably being unfair in suggesting you could solve this right away, or worse, that it is in some way your fault. Perhaps it is the time of year that is to blame.
As for specific solutions, it is hard to say. The biggest complaint i hear is the tired old poor registry argument. I know there was talk at some point about buying a new server (or whatever you call the machine that actually runs this stuff) and thereby reduce the load on the current one, thus increasing registry. That is probably the best long-term solution. In the short term, all that I can really think of is simply asking more regulars and admins to play – something that probably isn’t all that feasible.
That being said, i miss playing with you buddy! Get on some time!

summer is always a slow time. People head home away from their awesome schools internet. On top of it being not winter where we are locked up inside most of the day. Its summer, go outside.
I’ll start playing more myself, but mostly at nights as its to sexy outside to be inside.
