okay so ive been playing here for a LONG time, i just like to change my ingame name. anyways, i was playing scoutz this morning and i could tell that one player (yesca) was wallhacking. my ingame name at this point was hoot hoot ]owl[. i asked the admin(darth hazer) to spec and after a careful deliberation of 2 minutes of speccing, he did not ban him because he wanted to play. next map was snow and he continued to be extremely fishy and again i suggested darth hazer to spec him. i got upset with him because yesca could tell he was being specced because another player called him out on it while darth hazer was in spec mode. i then call him an idiot and he said ‘hoot, if you’d like to complain to someone who cares, wcugaming.org.’ so here i am.
this isnt the first time ive seen an admin do absolutely nothing when there was a hacker in question.
first off i personally like when the community keeps everyone in line and bring out the issues they see. thanks for letting us know and welcome to the forums. (hope you stick around some
)i was not their, (is this CS:S or 1.6 ) but it is very hard to get a demo on someone on those 2 maps… if the demo does not show 100% hacking we lift the ban. Sometimes it takes more than a few rounds. Also the admin has reported the issue to the execs.. not taking sides, but just my point of view.

As dice said, its very hard to spec someone on those two maps. With that said, next time your disrespectful, and you said more than just me being an idiot, you’ll be taking some time off from the server.

As was said above, anytime you feel something needs to be done, and nothing is being done, we have many admin who have no lives and would be happy to help you out if no one else is. Add me: ctptrick19, and anytime you want someone looked at, i will pop on and try to help, or find someone who can.
You just need to understand, it is hard for us admins to be sneaky and catch a demo of a hacker before we ban them. In many cases, while we agree that the person is walling, we cannot get it on demo so we cannot ban. I understand that Briefs was frustrating you, as he does to most (<3) but with a little patience u can let us get our job done.
Also thank you for bringing this to light for us. It’s always nice to get feedback so we can improve. Hopefully in future situations we can act faster when an issue arises and we will continue to work on that. If ever you see that guy back in the server, get his steam ID and contact me and we will be happy to help you out.

in any other case id agree with you, but im sick of this happening in this server. i feel like if im polite and not upfront about it, nothing will get done. so i probably went overboard but im just so frustrated with it
If you feel the admins in the server are not doing their job, hop on IRC and let someone know! http://www.wcugaming.org/irc.php and one of the execs can hop on and check in with them.
Telling the admins off wont do anything but cause bad feelings.

Firstly, I don’t think any admin is taking their admin privs for granted. I don’t think an admin is “lacking” because he doesn’t ban a fishy player. If you call being careful “lacking”, then count me as one of the most lacking admin on the server. As you may know, we need to record for proof before we can start typing in the ban line. As everyone here pointed out, it is extremely difficult to catch someone in the act. Ban for admins is the last resort. We have to be extremely careful with it, because we don’t want to ban anyone innocent. Also, it’s a lot easier to ban when there is more than one admin in the server. Normally after I record (and actually have something worth recording), I’ll ask another admin to spec and record (if possible) as well.
Also if someone “looks” like he’s hacking, but you don’t have any proof, does that give you the right to ban him? I’m not condoning toggler’s or hackers, but I’d rather let a 1000 fishy players go free because I was being careful, then ban someone who was innocent just because I thought he was fishy.
If they are hacking, they will get what is coming to them. Everything always comes around
Last night some of the same *edited* was going on, we constantly have fishy players in the server now and I don’t agree with them going free but you can’t just ban at random.

I think Bunny’s point was that the player was only spec’d for two minutes because Briefs wanted to play. I won’t do anything right away cuz I want to spec them and make sure I’m banning someone who’s guilty, but I feel what Bunny is saying is a little different.
As an admin you have an obligation to spec a fishy player, yes this means you don’t get play time sometimes, that is the job of an admin. I agree that if someone calls you an idiot and gives you hard time that you should give them some time off the server, but you as well should dedicate time to speccing fishy players, that means that you will have to lose play time, if you can’t handle that then you have no business being admin.

I spec’ed him for 3 rounds on scoutzknivez, and saw nothing that was ban worthy so I continued playing the map. If I banned everyone because so and so said they hacked, because they know a hacker when they see one, well, there wouldn’t be very many people playing on WCU, I demo’ed him for 3 rounds on SK, and nothing was ban worthy, or even warranted me watching him any longer.
So if you want to call me incompetent, go ahead.

I have posted several rants on this. Go read one. They’re all inspiring and describe what admins are REALLY here to do.
In short, if people are complaing, admins go to spectator. It doesn’t matter who is complaining or what they are complaining about. It is your job to police the server, having fun becomes secondary when you sign the thread stating you agree to uphold and enforce the admin rules. If you have a problem with this or your job seems too troublesome, feel free to let Liam or the CL know and they’ll remove your burden and you can go back to having fun as a regular.
I hate to be this blunt, but it really is that simple.
