SpectatorThere was an admin on either yesterday or the day before who was slaying a player because they were only knifing. It started because the player with the knife didn’t provide backup for the admin on one map, but they they were on opposite teams on the next map. The admin said that for every round that the player didn’t use a weapon he would be slayed.
Eventually the admin said it was because the player wasn’t attempting to do the objective, but I don’t believe there was a single round where the knifer was the last alive, and therefore preventing the objective from occurring. I don’t know if this is admin abuse, but it seems a bit off, if someone, who appeared to be a regular on the server, wanted to run around with a knife for a while.
I know that when things got bleak on Aztec things like that would happen, with the entire T team, so what harm was one player in doing it.

SpectatorI can see how that would prevent him from pursuing the objective, but this is a pub and he was just trying to have fun. I do not think he should have been punished for that.

SpectatorThat was out of line, a player can use whatever weapon they want to use, now if he was sitting in a corner knifing the wall like a retard then I would see that as a problem, but if he wants to use his knife he is more than welcome to.

SpectatorI can see both sides, but mostly i think the slaying was a bit uncalled for…

SpectatorNow I did this once yesterday because a player who was already constantly baiting teammates let a single enemy plow through our entire team’s flank while he chased him with a knife. When you let 5 teammates die because you’re using a knife, that’s wrong.
I don’t think it was me in the story because I didn’t explain why I slayed him or give a “if you don’t use a weapon, QQ, I’ll punish” ultimatum. It also didn’t happen for more than 1 round.
I can see how this can be extremely frustrating because the knifer really isn’t helping the team comeback out of their losing streak at all. He’s pretty much deadweight on the team. That doesn’t make it ok to slay him though, just move him to the other team and put a player who cares about actually playing the game on the losing team in his place.
Peanut, is there any way you can give a more accurate date/time so I can look this up in the logs?

SpectatorIt wasn’t you MP, and I think it was skroar2 (or whatever), I wish I could be more accurate. I think it was Saturday night, from Train to Dust2. It started on Train and continued into Dust2. I’m pretty sure it was some time after 8pm.
Don’t hold me to any of it. Oh, and the person being slayed was Muel – he had a longer name, but “muel” was either at the beginning or the end of the name.
I just wanted to post this issue because I thought it was uncalled for, but wasn’t sure on the rules for it.
Hope this helps.

SpectatorIt was probably “muel (ninja)knife time” who had 8 kills and 33 deaths.

yup, i think that is itJanuary 19, 2009 at 3:12 pm #68862YahooEarth
SpectatorIt was me that was doing it…and for the better part of both train and Dust 2, he was CONSTANTLY the last one alive because he was camping spots on the maps such as under the trains and behind random boxes…I let it slide at first, but it gets annoying when other players are trying to win…and it does say specifically in the motd that players must attempt the objectives…am I right?? I do not feel I was out of line…AND he had previously messaged me saying how he was owning kids in a 40 man server using only knives…but whatever…I guess kiddies can just go *edited*ing around in the server and people will find it OK…

SpectatorYahoo, this was not an attack at you, and once you warned him of the objectives, it wasn’t an issue. What happened was that prior to that, you were using admin say and *edited*ing to him, and basically toying with him. I was actually about to type something to tell you to lay off him, and you typed the Objectives issue to him. At that point I didn’t think it was an issue, it was just that it happened for some time prior to bring up the Objectives rule.
I just thought I would bring the broad issue up, of just messing around, and how it should be dealt with.
