Ah, so you mean that you have no problem with the concept of a President giving said powers to the Chief of Staff, regardless of political party. Okay, I thought you meant it would only be okay for a Democrat to get said powers. That’s where the confusion was. I think the White House should have no authority over the issue, but I admit you are not being a hypocrite.
