Why say that now? We needed this 6 years ago when democrats and liberal republicans started blocking all the good legislation. Somehow this whole “let’s just get along for now and do something” thing only works one way. When the stuff “getting done” isn’t what you want this whole system seems to break down and turn into a competition to see how many things you can keep from getting done.
The plain and simple truth is that democrats have held a majority vote in both houses of congress for 2 years now and absolutely nothing has gotten done. Even when Republicans weren’t doing anything to stop you from passing legislation you couldn’t get your party members from the two houses to agree on anything. I hate to be the constant negative nancy but *edited* if you think Reid and Pelosi are going to magically start caring about this country overnight you’ve set yourself up for some serious disappointment.
