Shares of video game maker Electronic Arts (ERTS, news, msgs) tumbled $3.08, or 15.9%, to $16.27 in midday trading after the company late Tuesday warned that fiscal 2009 revenue and earnings will come in below a previous forecast.
Analysts had expected EA to earn $1.16 per share for 2009, on sales of $5.06 billion.
The company said it does not plan to update its guidance before February 2009, when it will report its fiscal-third-quarter results.
“We are disappointed that our holiday slate is not meeting our sales expectations,” EA Chief Executive John Riccitiello said in a statement. “Given this performance and the uncertain economic environment, we are taking steps to reduce our cost structure and improve the profitability of our business.”
Be careful if you buy any EA games in the future. They already have a bad habit of halfassing and not finishing games, even when they were turning huge profits. BUYERS BEWARE!
