The problem is that there SHOULD be limitations and censorship in gaming. The original hardcore games that I remember that were advertised as being brutal had parental locks in them. Hell Duke Nukem 3D had parental controls in it. The problem is that developers have quit caring, it no longer matters the age of the buyer so long as the game is being bought.

Some places have carding proceedures in place but they are rarely used. When I bought Doom3 at EB Games I got carded, the 12 year old in front of me bought GTA3 and didn’t get carded. Which game is worse? Did it matter?

Until the government puts a process in place to require carding for games, like the process in place for drugs, the over-zealous political organizations are going to keep pushing for censorship. Instead of blindly bashing politicians for their actions, shouldn’t we be redirecting them in a manner that will really benefit all?

Besides, it is financially impossible for the government to place broadsweeping restrictions on ALL video games. There are simply too many international companies based in the US that depend on this not happening. I wouldn’t worry about any of these bills until they get enough steam to pass either the House or Senate. At that point it will be announced on the news and a *edited*ed off public majority will keep it from passing.
