ok so I am thinking I want to start with 4 drives and raid 5. I dont really want to worry about hard drive crashes. I think i want PCIE – x8 or faster. The raid cards i have found are around 300 or so for 4x and 8x connectors for sata II drives.
It doesn’t matter to me if I do one controller with 8 or better connectors for hard drives or 2 cards with 4 hard drive connectors.
Its a business expense. Just planning and it will be bought soon after everything is planned. I am running out of space and need a good common place for backups and no worries.
I am thinking alot of space 6 terabytes or so.
