I wouldnt get an ipad for ereader purposes. Since it uses a normal LCD, it is going to have the same readability problems associated with any PC/laptop, mainly increased eye strain. Simply put it is more of a strain on your eyes to look at a backlit screen like that for long periods of time than a screen like the kindle/nook, which has much more of a paper look.
Plus I would rather chop off my hand than give any money to apple.
I tend to agree with that entire statement. I was looking at the iPad, but it seems to bright to use as a reader.
I also want to avoid ereaders that are bloated with features. I understand wifi and browser to buy books, pdf reader, and thats about it. I do not want games, video player, music, or anything else on it. Ereaders today seem to think they can be MULTI-TOOLED or something. I do not want to use the reader to play bejeweled or listen to ac/dc. Its a *edited*ing READER. i want to READ.
