The # of ppl that own supreme commander 2 is comparitively tiny compared to starcraft. Starcraft is still suprisingly popular so I support this game.

I would hope so, the game comes out next week… I was tossing it out as an example. Despite what the campus members may be telling you, companies other than Blizzard make RTS games.

Btw, just because Starcraft still has a decent number of ONLINE players doesn’t mean it’ll be any more successful on campus. Those 30k players won’t be driving to the LAN.

Was anyone concerned when we had 5 PC FPS games in the past?

Yes there was quite a bit of whining going on about it even before we graduated.

If they were able to work it last time, I am sure they can do it this time. Plus that game got the most votes.

They had 1 PC with 2 PS3 controllers.

Last I checked, we were a non-profit organization.

We are nonprofit but when we’re out of cash we have to close our doors. Considering how much money we’ve lost in the last year that endpoint isn’t too that far away. Remember that money drive PCs did that raised like $2000 in a 2 day stretch? Yeah something tells me we don’t have members like that anymore willing to donate en-mass to get the club out of a crunch.

i may be new to the club… however the people voting for the game are people that do actually show up.

A warcraft/starcraft game has been voted in for the last 3 events and has never done “well”. In fact warcraft3 was disqualified because even through it always had many votes it never had more than a handful of players. Considering the PC attendance last time (and note that no one voted online b/c we weren’t allowed to) the whole “they do show up” argument falls apart.

If Im not mistaken 25. Which is, from what I was told, a good turnout for the PC side.

How many of that 25 were console players? Of course you’re going to pull in every PS3 player if you play a fighter game on another system. The point he was trying to make, and that I’ve made several times, is that you aren’t growing the PC side. You have a “strong” tournament, big deal, those aren’t PC players. If you replaced the entire PC lineup with console fighters you’d have the strongest PC turnout in years but that doesn’t mean it was a successful PC LAN. All it means is that you know how to artificially inflate turnout on a console of your choosing.

Don’t get me wrong. If Starcraft gets 20 players I’ll be all for playing it again. If WC3 had brought in 15-20 I’d do the same with it. What I won’t sit quietly for is when non-American PC games are voted in and in the entirety of campus there are maybe 3 copies, of which we don’t even know if they’re legit.
