Looks like the relaunch will just have the mod: HoN for WOW
I remember back in the day when 1.6 ruled supreme

SpectatorThere’s a reason CPL failed.
There’s a reason CAL failed.
Why anyone would give either league the time of day at this point is a mystery to me.

SpectatorIf it’s not being run by the same assholes as before then it could be a good thing.
September 7, 2010 at 1:21 pm #104988MasterP
SpectatorNope, it’s run by a completely different set of people who only care about profits. They’re owned by an investment management company in Singapore.
Seriously, CPL and CAL will never be run by people who care about quality of gameplay because they’re both corporate entities. No matter how you look at it, at the end of the day there’s a bottom line on a financial report somewhere and if the ink isn’t black it can’t bode well for gamers.

SpectatorHON is a standalone game based off of DoTA, which was a WAR3 mod, not WoW
. If only these were ran by better companies such as MLG, but too bad MLG doesn’t give a *edited* about CS/etc anymore.

What did you expect? CAL beat the *edited* out of everyone in the PC arena until it died and all the other leagues focused on consoles.
MLG does have a CSS bracket but meh.

SpectatorThe problem with CAL was that the admins in most of the divisions encouraged cheating by never investigating complaints. The last CSS team I played for a few years back played a team that was obviously wallhacking and when we put in a complaint the admins closed it the next day and actually issued a warning to our team
The Battlefield series was rampant with it and the CSS brackets were pretty bad too.
September 8, 2010 at 7:17 am #105045Lemm
SpectatorYeah and then they make you run a really horrible, laggy program to make sure you don’t cheat.. which doesn’t even work.
It doesn’t matter anyway as far as CSS goes.. everyone will say.. blah blah blah I was good in S1, S2… when everyone really cared.. and they’d be right. After 5 seasons of a game, the results of CAL are not that amazing.
I’m excited it’s coming back.. but I’m not sure about it for CSS / CS.

SpectatorI’ll hold the new CAL players in the same regard as I did the previous players, which was pretty low.

Well no matter what… it’s a league on the INTERNET… most gamers on CSS seem to be below 18 and have no regard for what they say or how they behave while playing.
September 9, 2010 at 3:44 pm #105148MasterP
SpectatorI mean I was like 19 when I played in CAL but most of the other people on my team were 14-16 <_>

so wait. youre telling me that a corporation only cares about money, and that they could care less about the quality of the product that they are offering, so long as it makes them money?

That’s not what I said, at all.
I said companies run such ways are why gaming leagues generally aren’t successful.
