So, i have a wireless system, but the current model i have is weaksauce because i can’t get good speed downstairs at the ps3

    so it’s upgrade time

so what are things to look for and things i should be aware of because i’m pretty clueless about hardware

Get a linksys wrt54g v4 or lower and flash it with tomato. (Check ebay for it)

If you want wireless N get a Linksys WRT320 or higher or an E2000/E3000.

WRT120 and 160 work good enough but he might as well spend a little more for drastically improved reliability, more features, more onboard memory, and better 3rd party firmware options. That’s why Liam recommended the WRT54g v4 or earlier, their native firmware required more memory which means you can load a much better 3rd party firmware than the v5 or higher which had half the memory. The WRT320 has twice as much memory as the WRT160N.

WRT320s never crash, and by never I mean ours has been going for over a year now without a single error-related reset.

I second for the WRT320N. I have mine, flashed with DD-WRT, and have never had to reset it going on 15 months now.

They provide step by step instructions. Easy as pie.

    And flashing does?

DD-WRT and Tomato are lightyears better than most stock Linksys firmware. MANY more features and drastically improved stability.
