I agree. The people have so little power over the legislature. The fact that 200,000 people have to rely on one person to maintain their voice is ridiculous.
meh, I was considering developing my argument more, but I feel like populating the CSS server instead.

SpectatorOh please man don’t think republicans wouldn’t support this *edited*. And if they don’t, It just shows how hypocritical there whole party is. If this was drafted 8 years ago, you betcha it would be pass through. Reminds me of this amazing bill that was passed by both republicans and democrats, back in the day(republicans were alot stronger back in 01 in congress):
The Act increases the ability of law enforcement agencies to search telephone, e-mail communications, medical, financial, and other records; eases restrictions on foreign intelligence gathering within the United States; expands the Secretary of the Treasury’s authority to regulate financial transactions, particularly those involving foreign individuals and entities; and enhances the discretion of law enforcement and immigration authorities in detaining and deporting immigrants suspected of terrorism-related acts.
the expanded use of National Security Letters, which allows the FBI to search telephone, e-mail, and financial records without a court order; and the expanded access of law enforcement agencies to business records, including library and financial records
text above isn’t from the internet control bill, but one we passed a long time ago? It ring a bell to anyone? The patriot act. Republicans cry for injustice and the ‘taking away of civil liberty’ is about as pathetic and hypocritical as one can get. I’m not justifying the proposed internet takeover bill, but don’t think a republican wouldn’t try and pull this kind of *edited* if they were in office, because they would and already have.
So let me get this straight….when a democratic president decides to do something to strengthen security he is labeled hitler, but when a republican president does the exact same thing, he’s a patriot? talk about bull*edited* and lets not forget the latter actually happened, patriot crap was signed by good ole bush, if obama were to even come close signing something like this all the hypocrites called republicans would go nuts. wing nuts

SpectatorSo a known terrorist in Iran calls another known terrorist in the US and we can’t listen in until after getting a court order. You realize that by the time they get the court order the call would be LONG over. Like 2 days over. So in other words, we can’t listen to terrorists.
People like you make people like me lose sleep.
Name one American citizen who’s lived here all his life with a 100% clean background that was falsely arrested by the Patriot Act.
Oh btw, Obama is making your medical records publicly available to any agency or company that requests them. Please explain how that’s supposed to make us safe.
Oh btw #2, republicans will not vote for this. In fact it’s highly probable that not a single one will vote for this. By contrast almost every single democrat voted for the Partiot Act.
Oh btw #3, why is that whenever something bad about Obama or his pet congress comes out they immediately shift the blame or focus back on Bush. Bush isn’t in office anymore and you’ve had congress for 3 years. When are all these problems going to start being blammed on the people in power when they started? Bush let the CIA look at your phone records and emails (something they already did FYI) so Obama should get the internet??? What?

Bush let the CIA look at your phone records and emails (something they already did FYI) so Obama should get the internet??? What?Uhm hello we have been complaining. And now the rolls have switched. The point you bring up is an ideal scenario. How the patriot act is suppose to work on paper. Like you, complaining, when you did about the potential abuse of power from obama, or total destruction of the (republican) U.S., I feared the potential abuse of the patriot act. Of course I think it’s okay for terrorists to get their phones tapped, but the whole problem of the patriot act was to allow the tapping of people over here. IDEALLY, they would tap the phones and read the emails of domestic terrorists, but the POTENTIAL for abuse also becomes available.
I can’t say the word bomb or gihad without thinking they might be listening. Security in exchange for freedom is perfectly fine in your eyes, but giving healthcare isn’t. Talk about *edited*ed up ideals. You would rather give up the essence of what makes america, america.
It’s sad that we have become a nation like this really. I can’t trust republicans, just like you can’t trust democrats. =/
Oh and btw, yes democrats voted for it, but I acknowledged that before, and it was signed in by a conservative (at the time) president.
Oh and btw, UNLIKE obama’s bill THAT HAS YET TO BE EVEN PASSED, the bill Bush signed was found to be unconstitutional.
Republicans want it there way or the high way. You don’t want to hear anything progressive, yet expect us to be bipartisan. You all could care less about people in this country but yourselves. It’s not surprising though, conservative is synonymous to stingy and inflexible
The only thing you got going is the fact that Obama and gang don’t have the balls to pass through their *edited*. It’s the only thing I find that very disappointing.
Oh and btw, don’t lose sleep, no one is going to blow up North Carolina.

So I have to ask, if the CIA were to read your email or listen in on your phone calls, why does that bother you? If you’re not doing anything illegal they can’t touch you and even if you are discussing a criminal act they can’t do anything about it without more evidence, which to obtain they must acquire court orders. Your fear is irrational and sheepish. Are you so afraid of having your emails read or sex calls tapped that you’d allow terrorists to use our own data infrastructure to discuss their next attack?
Bush was never a conservative and I really wish you’d stop claiming he is. The last conservative president was Reagan. Republican and conservative are nowhere near the same thing.
Obama’s bill will be unconstitutional because there’s no way for it NOT to be unconstitutional. For it to do what he wants the federal government has to seize more power than they’re allowed to, there’s simply no way to get around it. Now if they didn’t have force a public plan then yes it would be fine and would probably get bi-partisan support to some degree.
Regardless of how much power the two bills floating around in congress would give the government, neither would ever be found unconstitutional. The Justice Department remembers what happened when they tried to declare FDR’s obviously unconstitutional New Deal plans and won’t dare risk it happening a second time with Obama. Unlike FDR, Obama would actually follow through with any threat made to the court.

Did you vote for bush? Probably twice. doesn’t matter what he is, if he was voted in by conservatives, in the end you all were at fault for his retardation. Unlike you, I will take full responsibility for the man I voted for. Which btw I find to being a fine job. Only thing I is I wish he was more aggressive.

I’d have thought you’d get the free will to cut yourselfs loose by now. On one hand you call Bush the dumbest president in history and on the other you blame him for plotting the Sept. 11 attacks, blamming them on someone else, planting evidence to go to war, profitting from the war, finding a connection to go to war again, profitting from that war, Jesus dude make up your mind. He can’t be a retard and the best mastermind in American history. You gotta pick one.
If Bush can be the smartest and dumbest president ever then that means Obama can be a socialist, communist, marxist, nazi, Hitler, and the anti-christ all at once.
If you really want to discuss voting records, how many republican presidents have you voted for?
Btw, nice deflect there. I explain how Obama’s bill is guaranteed to be unconstitutional yet be passed anyway due to the previous history between FDR types and the Justice Department and you deflect over to my voting record. Way to work the liberal magic.

I’m sorry where in any of what I posted did I say Bush = sept 11th
Lets back up a little. Firstly Bush was and still is a big retard. To me anyway. But I’ll give it to you he wasn’t stupid in terms of his decisions (although I totally disagree with the choices he made) but he was inarticulate.
As far as how many republicans I have voted for, well none.
