    HERRO.

I just got back to my school’s campus and had a little trouble connecting to the internet at first because my IP and DNS were set to specific numbers instead of auto-retrieve. I’d ask ITS how to help me but my IT department is never open ATM.

    SOOO.

I come to you for help

    (and maybe sexual favors)

I have a linksys WRT54GL Wireless-G Broadband Router. Now, if I connect the router to my computer through port 1, I have no problem accessing the router’s settings, so they can be changed freely if needed. When I connect my computer straight to the ethernet port in the wall, it works perfectly. However, when the ROUTER is connected to the ethernet port in my wall, I cannot connect the the internet via hard wire or wirelessly.

    SO IN A NUTSHELL.

    My internet works fine.

    I can access my router.

My router cannot take the internet from the wall to my computer even though it works directly.

    I love you all.

    Kinda.

so do you have your ethernet adapter to pick up a certain IP & DNS?

Go into the TCP/IP settings and set them to auto.

I did, that’s how I fixed my direct connection into the ethernet jack.

Now, when I connect my router to the jack and connect my PC to the router, my internetz does not work.

Go into the router, turn DHCP off, and use it as a switch. Eliminates 99% of headaches with college internet.

I ended up fixing it! =)

I just cloned my PC’s mac address to my router and retrieved a new one from the network for my PC.

Took me a few hours to figure out, but the solution took 5 minutes =D

    PROBLEM SOLVED!
