xenocide
SpectatorSo not only do admins still refuse to nominate maps regulars suggest when they DO decide throw up votes… they do this:
I was just playing when the server had 20 people in it and an admin threw up a vote for scoutzknivez (without a lot of people asking for it, as far as I could tell). It got 7 votes and needed 6 and the map changed…… 6 votes out of 20?? wtf.
please fix this, it’s so stupid.
please require at least 50% for a vote an admin throws up (if it’s a single map choice).
also please amend your rules to force admins to allow players to nominate maps. i’m really sick of them choosing their own favorites 24/7 and never listening to anyone.

I did it and there was somewhere in the range of 14 or so people online. Cry more please. Vote passed, we played.

SpectatorDude, really?
It would not have passed with 7 people when 20 were in the server, it would have to be in the 10-15 range for that to happen.

SpectatorHow does the vote system work? Does it count votes of yes versus the entire server population or is it the votes yes versus those who voted in the poll?

xeno it’s called a map vote for a reason. You have a voice. Your choices are yes and no. The only way an admin could change the map is to have a majority vote yes on a vote. If it is true what you say, then you would need at least 10 people to vote yes in a population of 20. It would never have passed otherwise. The choice of the map is really irrelevant, if a majority don’t want it they’ll vote no, if they do they’ll vote yes.
On a side note, did we get rid of RTV or something? I thought if the population density was more than like 13 we couldn’t throw up map votes?

SpectatorThere are times when votes need only 1 to go through. Unless I’m thinking of amx_vote and not amx_votemap, couldn’t xenocide be correct? I was there when the vote was put up, but I don’t recall the results cuz I was still running around. I just know that it went through and we went to scoutz next.

I’m calling bull*edited* on this.Nope. I’ve seen votes end and it says “needed 1.” BUT like I said in my previous comment, I might be thinking of amx_vote and not amx_votemap.

I thought that’s what this thread was about…It is, but someone said that the majority of the players have to vote yes for the map to win and I was saying that I’ve seen votes win with 1 vote. And note that I said that I THINK it’s amx_vote that does that.
Anyway, point was that you don’t always need more than half of the server to get a win for a vote (and I’m not just talking about amx_votemap, which hopefully is obvious now).

SpectatorI don’t know which admin threw up the vote, but if it was Kuros, I don’t understand how our observations are so different. I distinctly remember pressing ‘tab’ just before the results hit and there were 19 or 20 players in the server and the text definitely said ‘needed 6’. I suppose it’s POSSIBLE, but highly UNLIKELY that 6-7 of the 20 just connected and were in the spectate/loading phase of connecting, however I’m much more inclined to think that Kuros is confusing events.
July 3, 2009 at 1:51 pm #88139Kuros
SpectatorI do believe it was 8v7 with a ??? number of spectators.
July 3, 2009 at 2:02 pm #88140MajorMajorMajor
SpectatorI’ve been sayin this forever but im like 90% sure the vote only counts the people who actually voted not every member in the server. You can have 20 people in the server but if only 14 vote, you can get get by with way less than the majority
July 3, 2009 at 3:06 pm #88146MasterP
SpectatorI don’t get how people can play with a vote menu taking up that side of the screen. Maybe you guys need to start creating votes at the very end of a round so people push buttons when they start to buy.
Btw, if spectators not voting is an issue there’s a very simple way to fix that.

i mean half the time a vote comes up i dont even see it
if i make the vote i dont get to vote, and around like 75% of the time if an admin makes it i dont see it, i only see the results
July 3, 2009 at 10:41 pm #88158newrayz
Spectatorjust use common sense? I normally press tab and compare the results with the actual number of people in the server. no majority = no change.
oh and xeno it is very plausible for a high density server like wcu to have 6 people join up all at once in between a vote. i’ve seen the server go from 5 to 18 in a few seconds
July 3, 2009 at 10:42 pm #88159YouWinGameOver
Spectatorit just has to do with chance
this is what I have figured out:
When ever an admin makes a vote only 34% of the time it works, you take that 34% of the time and multiply it by the number of people in the server add the 60% map vote quality, divided by the number of rtvs and you get turduckket. You take the turducket and microwave on high for 400 minutes. This is equal to the number of times someone has made a complaint to majorx3. Then when it is done you chill for 24hrs next to the beer. Take a refreshing sip of beer and leave the rest in the fridge. Add 14 turtles and multiply by 35 snakes. Giving you the end all answer to map votes. Map Votes=dividing by 0.

and remember never pay the ferry to cross the river. You might lose an oxen or two, or break an arm, but that’s part of the thrill of traveling on the Oregon trail!

I hit tab and I recall seeing it was 9v8 and there was at least one spec.
