SpectatorAction: Report AbuseStatement: Some people in the 1.6 server (including at least one admin) have changed their names to the complete url of known hacking and griefing websites. I don’t think that is such a good idea to be advertising hack websites on the server.

Spectatormyg0t use to be a hacking clan yes . But . there isnt really anything wrong with using a tag like that if it just says myg0t it may not be liked but it’s not breaking any kind of rule its not racial or sexist or anything else its just a harmless name .

if i were to join a random server and half the ppl in their have myg0t tags on i would not be sticking around. If they dont hack, they are supporting a hacking community,, i would not be sticking around long nuff to find out, and many proactive gamers feel this way.

SpectatorThe names were mygot .com, deviant cheats .com and 2 others that i don’t recall exactly.
While in the server I asked yousillygoose to tell them to change their names and he told me one of them was an admin, I believe it was tiggle.
Basically, I feel the same way about this as NoDice – which is why I reported it and I would also like to add that other people also started changing their names to other hacking sites after seeing the other people with them – so it is a bad influence on the server.

SpectatorIt’s better to nip it in the bud early before someone that’s legitimately from those websites comes in and we don’t catch them because this is going on.

SpectatorIf someone has a website that adverts anything other than our own website feel free to ban.

I think you need to clarify this. Some people use their site as their clan tags. For example me, when I play CS, I use:
“Mista @ http://www.HonorSoldiers.com” I don’t expect to be banned for tagging up. If I do I’m gonna be super *edited*ed.

SpectatorDerrik advertising has never been allowed on the servers . And if you use youe site as you tag you are knowingly breaking a rule so what ever happens happens

You know that we don’t appreciate advertising beyond our own community. Even with the tag you said you wear in CS16, by wearing it in our server you are directly advertising another clan’s servers. The only thing this can do is steal players from us so how would you expect us to tolerate it?

May 3, 2009 at 5:09 pm #83696Derrick LeBrocq
SpectatorI’ve ALWAYS worn my site as my tag…except when I call myself Raven..which isn’t very often anymore.
Since 05 I’ve been doing this already.
May 3, 2009 at 5:19 pm #83698Derrick LeBrocq
SpectatorYou better not because….It wasn’t a rule when I started, and I wasn’t aware it was a rule now. Nobody has ever had a problem with it, nor has it caused any confusion. Everybody KNOWS who’s server it is. I think this rule should be re-thought, at least for certain people. God knows if Adambomb went into CS with the name “Adam @ http://www.SimpWeb.com”, the admin who bans him would have HELL to pay. Considering my history and time spent with this great club, I feel it should be overlooked, at least for me. If it makes you feel any better, I’m the only member of my clan who plays CS at all. You’ll never see 10 guys in the server with that tag on, JUST ME. We mainly stick to CoD/Wolfenstein. The only thing remotely close to CS we play is L4D and Garry’s Mod (which is expensive to run a server for).
May 3, 2009 at 6:14 pm #83707Derrick LeBrocq
SpectatorI should also note that my clan hasn’t any CS servers…so stealing players isn’t a big deal…so yeah.
May 3, 2009 at 7:16 pm #83717MasterP
SpectatorSo we should make an exception for you and not for myg0t? I don’t play that game and I’m really surprised that given your history with the club that you would ask for such a rule exception. You know full well that once I allow one organization an exception to the rule that I’ll have to let others, up to and including myg0t to do the same. It’s called being fair and I try to do that as much as I can.
If you came with advertising one of our sponsors, that’s a completely different scenario. Advertising simpweb wouldn’t be a problem. However, just because you are a simpweb employee doesn’t mean you can use that status to bypass the rules and advertise for someone who runs servers in competition to our own. If Adambomb came in a server and was advertising myg0t he would get banned and the admin who did it probably wouldn’t be reprimanded at all.
We really appreciate the amount of time you’ve been here and the work you’ve done to help better the club but we cannot use that as a basis for turning our backs on policy violations. If that was the case Kuros could permaban everyone in the Source server and I’d have to let it slide.

SpectatorSince I’m a retard, do whatever you want and wear any website you want in your name. When something goes horribly wrong you’ll understand were I was coming from.

SpectatorI was under the impression we were supposed to warn then ban people for advertising anything in the servers and until im told otherwise thats what I will do. Its what all the admins should do and no they should not make an exception just for you because then everyone is gonna want one.

SpectatorI don’t think it’s fair, at all, to even compare me to myg0t. Thats blasphemous.
You’re not getting it. I don’t run servers in competition of your own. The one server I do run that you ALSO run is L4D, and its passworded and private.
As far as I know, using my site address as my tag isn’t a violation anyway, since we have no servers in common, therefore nothing to advertise.
Also, I’m not a simpweb employee. I’m co-owner.
But enough about this. I may or may not continue to wear my tag, we’ll see, but I don’t want this escalating into more than it has to be.

Clearly you should shut the *edited* up. Alot went on behind the scenes (ala: AIM conversations with MasterP) for me to come to that decision. Arguing and respect are 2 different things, they do NOT intertwine. Everybody here KNOWS i respect the club. As much as I respected my parents (Respected, past tense, but thats another story) growing up, I argued with them. As much as I respect my girlfriend, I argue with her. I still believe what I said was right, so on that note, *edited* yourself with a machete.
OH, no offense, of course.

If you talk back and drag it on there is a clearly a lack of respect. Especially if you do it where everyone can see it.
